Damn....this is why I think the first debate will be a disaster for Trump.

Expectations are very low for Trump.  If he can string together a few (not many) coherent sentences, not drool too much, and not call Hillary Clinton a "c**nt" or a "bitch", he will probably be declared the victor.

The standards are very different for the candidates, obviously.  Hillary Clinton is expected to stay calm, sit there and take it while Donald Trump lies about every topic that they will discuss.  Donald Trump will be given extra credit just for using words in the right order.

I’m thinking the debates won’t matter.

Again, the only thing our crap population cares about is charisma and bravado, so Trump will win. You have far more respect for our fellow citizens if you believe Hillary has a chance.

I do love that the article says they are trying to "trigger" Trump.

He's so easily triggered, it shouldn't take much. His bankruptcies and questioning his understanding/knowledge should be enough.

She has to be subtle in baiting him. She can't go full Marco Rubio.

She doesn't plan to. At least that's what they say. Without a TelePrompTer I'm sure Trump will buffoon himself. But that hasn't killed him yet.

I don't recall her ever provoking Sanders, except the time she questioned his qualifications and he overreacted and said she was unqualified.

I agree, trying to provoke him should be a backup plan.

Sanders didn't go on twitter rants at the drop of the hat, so triggering Trump likely won't take much effort .

What good is researching topics she won't be asked about and instead her first 15min segment will likely deal with her emails again?

What is beneficial about this attitude?

Expectations are not as low for Trump as people seem to assume: https://morningconsultintelligence.com/public/mc/160909_topline_debate_v2_KD.pdf

37% think Clinton will win, 31% think Trump will, 32% aren't sure. The gap is present but it is not very large.

Trump can play this game too.  He just needs to throw some balloons in front of her.

At this point, the expectations of the expectations are lower than the expectations themselves.

The topic discussion is silly. If people want change—which includes switching party occupancy in the White House—the one at a disadvantage will not have any one debate to persuade the electorate otherwise.

I think Grandma should pile up on anti-seizure meds and other tranquilizers or there might be a KO , but not the type she envisions.

Yes but remember Trump won't have his telepromter to help him. We're going to get Orange Hitler, not The Great Man of Astounding Moral Character.

The thing is, most people who think he'll win are probably diehard supporters, who'll think he's won even if he calls Obama a "goddamn n***er" or something like that.
