This is my district. The only notable thing about it this year is there is no Republican running, only a Democrat and a Libertarian. I'm wondering how Atlas feels.

Anyway, I'm almost considering protest-voting for Simmons because Neal ignores my area, but I'll probably vote for Neal because screw libertarianism.

If I lived half a mile further west I'd probably vote for Neal.

My cousin and her husband (both progressives like me) used to live in his district and all they'd talk about is how much of a useless cookie-cutter Dem he is.

I'd vote for him because I'm a partisan hack when it comes to federal elections.

I'm voting for Thomas Simmons.  Neal has been in office too long. Neal caters to only the Insurance Lobby and Pharmaceutical Lobby.  His pork projects are just to secure the Springfield vote and he care nothing about the rest of the district.
Simmons has visit every town in the district so far and truly has an interest in the people in the district.
Neal just thinks about his next photo-op and hasn't put forth a bill in congress that has received any traction in a decade.  Neal just wants to be Ambassador to Ireland and with a Hillary presidency he will get his wish.
People voting for Neal this time are very much wasting their votes.

Obviously for the Libertarian in a 2-way race against pretty much any Democrat.

Welcome to the forum! Smiley

I don't especially like Neal, but his positions are generally OK. I might vote for Simmons anyway as a protest vote, but it depends on how I'm feeling on Election Day.

Richard Neal, definitely. Though he is too moderate for MA-1.

Probably Neal, though I agree that he isn't really that representative of MA-01.

He could become HUD or Education Secretary, or he could be the Special Envoy to Northern Ireland.

Suzanne Bump, Andrea Nuciforo, Jr., Alex Morse, Rick Sullivan, Brian P. Sullivan, and John Velis are his possible Democratic replacements.

Morse and Nuciforo would be good (Nuciforo has a regional disadvsntage though). Velis is a nice guy but he's way too moderate for the district--maybe he could run for state Senate though. I don't know about the others.

I'd also add Aaron Vega, Dominic Sarno, Ben Downing, and Adam Hinds (in a few years). There also might be some politicians from the easternmost part of the district that I don't know about.

And yeah, I hope SeaBear is right about Neal becoming ambassador to Ireland.
