Do you think if either of them wins that they will be primaried in 2020 because they're very historically unpopular?

I have a hunch Hillary will only serve 1 term. I think she'll opt to not go through this again at 74.

Considering the 'rigging' this year and how afraid everyone was to challenge Hillary in the first place, no one would bother to primary Hillary having that information in advance now. Carter was primaried due to his lack of hawkishness r.e Iran, and Hillary is the most hawkish Dem possible, she wouldn't have such a weakness.

Trump would absolutely get primaried by a 'true conservative' like Cruz which would cost him his reelection among other things.

So under normal conditions that would make Hillary favored for re-election as an incumbent. A lot of that 'unfavorability', is due to polarization, Hillary's numbers are on par with the most well-known alternative GOP candidates, Cruz and Jeb.

She has the arrogance of Reagan, she could care less what brogressives think of her.

They may be IN the primaries but neither would win.

I could see this happening if Clinton dares to cut deals with Republicans. HOW DID WE  UP SO HARD IN 2010. Republicans will absolutely obstruct everything for four years.

Hillary won’t be primaried. She’ll be a two-term-president. The orange-skinned clown, if somehow elected, would face a challenge from Ted Cruz. But this would not succeed. Voted yes. However, the Trumpster won’t be prez. That is certain.

I'd bet my house Hillary will be primary challenged by the left. The longer a party has the White House, the more fractured it becomes. Not to mention the BernieBros have a pretty bad taste in their mouths and probably want revenge.

While Iran was an albatross around Carter's neck in the general election, that wasn't why Teddy tried to primary him. Teddy ran against Carter because of his embrace of conservative economics in a number of areas.

Given the rather absurd number of '76 and '88 callbacks with only the parties flipped:

A) If 2016 remains like '76 flipped, trump will get challenged from the right. He'll live through that but get trashed out by someone from the Sanders-wing.

B) If it proves itself to be like '88 as once thought, Hillary will likely get a liberal's Pat Buchanan as a challenger. She'll get narrowly taken out by someone with Mark Kirk/John Kasich/Larry Hogan-esque stances.

Thom Hartmann, Robert Reich, and Tulsi Gabbard would be potential primary challengers for Clinton.

I think Ben Sasse, Reid Ribble, Bill Kristol, David French, Evan McMullin, and Austin Petersen would be good potential primary challengers for Trump.

It depends on Hillary's performance. TPP would be the breaking point & if she does cut Medicare or some welfare program in a deal with GOP, you bet it will be the last straw.

Bernie has set her up in a way & has already said she will be held accountable in 4 years to implement the Policies of the Dem Platform.

Look at some of the stuff -

Medicare age lowered to 45
Expansion of Childcare & Primary healthcare
Public Option
Free Public College Tuition
Infra Investment
Legalize Marijuana
15$ Minimum Wage
Tax on Carbon
Glass Steagal
Break the Banks
Paid Medical & Family Leave

Of these only thing we could see is some infra investment & maybe a small increase in Minimum Wage, some loan refinancing.

The script writes itself - Nothing done for Healthcare expansion, Tuition Free, no action on Wall Street - That coupled up with TPP & some welfare cuts - You have a readymade script.

Now Bernie is the only guy who could primary him because let's face it none of the Senators have balls - They are sh** scared & will do nothing - It depends on how healthy Bernie feels & what Clinton does.

I could see Trump getting primaried if things are substantially worse than they are now. I think Clinton will step down if things aren't looking too good.

Trump? Probably.

Clinton? Only by those random people who ran against Obama in 2012.

I can still see Hillary getting primaried if her approval rating is <30% by 2019. There's a possibility of that happening.

Probably.

Running for President provides challengers free publicity, and both Clinton and Trump have some enemies in their parties. There is also the possibility of a VP becoming President, and they would lack the credibility of winning a presidential election in their own right.
