I think this article does a good job of summing up why I will never bank with them (again).  I did so for a while as a teenager and really got a feel for them.  I closed my account and switched to a local bank and never went back.

http://www.startribune.com/inside-wells-fargo-front-line-employees-describe-immense-pressure-few-rewards/394694611/

They are relentless.  They will not stop bothering you about opening an account or purchasing some financial "product".  Like the article says... it's not just by one person or just one time.  They like to trade you around the branch to various different tellers and bankers... all asking multiple times.  And it's so obvious that this is being enforced from above.  The kind of forced friendliness and familiarity, backed up by a sense of intense desperation and misery, makes the place hard to even go into.

But with the recent revelation that 5200 employees were fired for opening some ungodly number of fake accounts to satisfy performance demands, the bank has come under intense scrutiny.. and these policies are being zeroed in on as the culprit.  Personally, I think those 5200 should be hired back... and instead the 5200 senior most employees of the bank should be fired and barred from working in banking again.  Cut the head off that beast.

Have/do you bank with them?  If so, what has your experience been like?

Yes, but never have really been bothered by them into buying other products or opening any accounts.

I have never had a problem with them, and they have always been overwhelmingly friendly. My biggest issue is that their hours are obscenely short - it was even worse in the suburbs where a grand total of one was open at any point on Saturday and that was a mighty bike ride away.

I would consider switching due to the hours if a) there wasn't one in my office building; and b) there wasn't one close enough to get me out of bed on Saturday mornings and proceed to go window shopping at the department stores. Changing jobs/moving would cause me to split.

Never had a problem with being offered other products ever.

No, I have enough experience with their sleazy tactics to take my business elsewhere.

They've never been an option where I live, but I've preferred locally based banks and have had to change banks a time or two when a local bank was gobbled up by a national whale.

No, I left them for Ally, which gives me a 1% interest rate on my savings compared to the 0.01% pittance I was getting from WF/BoA. If you aren't getting 0.7-1%+ in your savings account you need to switch banks.

I do, but my account has been empty since May and I primarily use my original Chase account.

Not directly. I've used some of their brokerage services for accounts that were not mine personally, so I was never in a position to be sold new products. My personal checking/savings accounts are split between a national bank, a regional bank, and a community bank all with branches near me.

Some people aren't rate-chasers and want to bank somewhere with responsive and reliable service.
