Elected office?

I unaminously won election as Supreme Universal Leader. I'm also the Elections Inspector for the Universe. No one acknowledges either title, strangely enough.

I'll recognize you (not that anybody else would care :/ )

Wouldn't it be too risky to have public office aspirations and post on a forum giving any political opinion?

This is one of a few different reasons why I'm probably never going through with my pipe-dream independent gadfly run for the Massachusetts General Court.

Another illustrious career destroyed before it began because of youthful s**tposting You're certainly not a s**tposter, but posting on Atlas is damaging enough.

It's probably worth the time at some point to review your posts to see if is anything that would be actually damaging. Candidates are expected to have opinions, just not crazy opinions.

There was a poster who was briefly elected a local councilor in the UK as a Lib Dem before resigning a couple of days after taking office because (more or less, as I recall) his girlfriend wanted him to.

Yes, sadly it's true.. at one point I held a small piece of power for 6 years.. Than I regained my sanity and left that life behind to follow my dream.. Interpretive Dancer to the Stars.

But would that be considered something other than just being a government employee?

I mean, I'm not a government employee.  I work at a bank, and the bank got me a notary because it's convenient.

In IL like most states, notaries are appointed officials. They file an application and fee and are then able to officially witness various legal acts like signatures, oaths, and other affirmations. They aren't employed by the state, but help the legal process.
