John Kerry(2004)
Ron Paul(2008 primaries)
Obama(2008 election)
Ron Paul(2012 primaries)
Obama(2012 election)
Rand Paul(2016 primaries)
Sanders(2016 primaries)
Trump(2016 election)

and that he "didn't mind Bill Clinton"

and "Bush was just stupid, he seemed ok until 9/11"



He is very proud of this. He voted for Obama, yet supported Rand Paul, Sanders, and Trump all this year! What in the world is his ideology? I can't understand him.

Iowan independent with a non-interventionist and populist streak. Opposed Bush and McCain over Iraq, considered Romney too hawkish vis-a-vis Russia/Syria, and can not support Hillary for the same reason.

Probably someone who considers themselves "anti-establishment" and votes for whoever seems the most like an outsider. He is also probably at least somewhat paranoid. I could see him being a Goldwater/Wallace/McGovern/Carter/Reagan voter.

What counts as contrarianism can depend on your environment of course. So someone who posts on here daily might be a big Trump supporter out of contrarianism, someone on a college campus might despise Sanders out of contrarianism etc.
