Glenn Beck might be the most insane and unstable member of the media and has been since Obama's victory as bare minimum.

It's no coincidence that someone who bought into Ted Cruz believes that "the idea of america" was ever something that most Americans believed in. The man is functionally incapable of distinguishing image from reality.

He sounds like a parody of an Ayn Rand protagonist.

He lost it years ago when he began the libertarian takeover of the GOP.

He is right though about the fracturing of the right. That is a not going to be undone. There is a degree of awareness now that isn't going to just vanish. Trumpists now regard the establishment and the movement conservatives as hostile to their interests, movement conservatives look down on Trumpists inferior hicks, establishment types see both as crazy. Reallignments often occur when people wake up and realize just who is actually in their party and decide they don't want to be in the same tent. You see this in that Confessions of a Republian ad (he hasn't voted Republican since the 1960's), you see this with the many people who have switched parties over the years and you see it now with the many people who are for the first time realizing because of Trump, who else is a Republican and why.

For his sake and his objectives/ideology, he has every reason to lose it.

No, Glenn Beck is a brilliant man and I'd bet money that he's one of the biggest bulls***ers on the right.  If you watch him when he's not "in-character," he's always calm, articulate, and sometimes has genuinely interesting insights to offer (although he still does far too much name-calling for my taste).  However, this crazy-man schtick is like a character that some brilliant screenwriter has written for himself.  In other words, Beck simply uses his intelligence and other talents to manipulate, divide, exploit, and incite hatred despite clearly knowing better...and that makes him an evil man.

Selling your soul like that for money or power/influence is a small-scale version of the type of thinking that leads a George Wallace to go from being fiercely pro-civil rights to being an arch-segregationist to win elections or that made Eric Greitens actively defended a man (Michael Goguen) who kept (yes, I mean "kept" like keeping an animal as a pet) a 15 year-old victim of human trafficking as a personal sex slave for 13 years because guy donated $1 million to his campaign (btw, this is the reason that I hate Greitens so much and consider him to be such a horrible person).

Yep, we've seen that culminate this year with the nomination of Trump, apparently the first (and only) libertarian fascist.

Any Republican who has unequivocally rejected Donald Trump is better than those who have not.
