Why wouldn't a former governor be qualified to be president?

Why wouldn't a former governor be qualified to be president?

Since when being a Governor automatically qualifies one to be President?

Anyone is qualified if they meet the constitutional requirements. Beyond that a candidate is qualified if his/her potential employer (the electorate in this case) thinks that he/she is qualified. In other words it's almost entirely subjective and renders these kinds of threads meaningless.

On the other hand, if the word 'suitable' were used instead of 'qualified'...

Okay, okay, poor word choice on my part. Tongue

Still, I'm not sure why people would think Johnson isn't qualified.

Of course he is, his resume is extremely impressive, as a very successful governor of a state. He has a more impressive resume than several Presidents who have been elected in the past, including Obama.

Does he have the greatest wit? No, never has, but that didn't stop him from being an incredible governor, and several of our greatest Presidents would have looked worse than him in the modern media spotlight. Decision making skills are much more important, and he's proven himself there.

Technically qualified. With regard to domestic affairs and economic policy, he brings interesting positions to the table and backs them up quite nicely.

Sadly, this is an election where foreign policy is a defining issue. In this regard, he has no business being president.

Ftr, resume alone doesn't make one automatically "qualified"

In terms of experience, yes. He does know how government functions. If Trump is considered to be qualified by so many people, than so should Johnson. However, Clinton is still much more qualified.
