How would I do versus a candidate of the opposite party, but of the same polarity? I perhaps have not been around long enough for everyone to know how I feel about issues, so I have summarized them below:

Abortion: I don't like it, but I will oppose any actions to criminalize it. Ensure that a nationwide law forbidding third-trimester abortions is passed/protected.

Drugs/Alcohol: Marijuana should be legalized and regulated by the government. Tax revenues would be collected and would benefit the country in many areas, including combating against illegal drug abuse. I would propose that alcohol drinking age is lowered to 18.

Education: Nearly all foreign educational systems that rank higher than the United States have a national curriculum. I would propose the prospect of a national educational curriculum, requiring every school in the United States to meet certain goals. I would also propose at least a national scholarship like the HOPE scholarship in Georgia, which pays for every student's college tuition if they have at least a B average.

Gay Marriage/Civil Unions: I would oppose gay marriage due to the fact that marriage is an institution of the church defined by most churches as a union between a man and a woman, and interfering with this law would be a breach of separation of Church and State. I would favor same-sex unions however, performed in a city hall or other designated government building. I would also propose that the benefits of marriage sanctioned by the government be diverted from church marriages and redirected to civil unions, requiring that all couples receive a union performed by the State, followed optionally by a church wedding. This I believe would eliminate any confusion regarding the intermingling of the matter between Church and State.

Gun Control: Rifles would remain perfectly legal. Certain types of guns (assault weapons) would be legal, but available only at specially-designated places (shooting ranges) for use and owners would be required to leave them there upon exiting the premises.

Immigration: Immigration would be strongly regulated. Citizens born of illegal immigrants in the United States would not receive automatic citizenship; rather, they would receive naturalization. Their parents would have a total of (5) years in order to obtain legal citizenship or face deportation. Fierce crackdowns on illegal immigrant hiring would occur, and if at all possible, an actual, physical structure would be placed at some of, if not the entire U.S./Mexico border to regulate immigration and stop illegal immigration.

Welfare: Dramatically reduced. Amount of people eligible for welfare = number of unemployed people in the U.S. + 10%.

Sorry about not posting my views on more issues; I can't think of much more right now, and plus this isn't a novel. =p

See, that's the problem. I don't exactly know how to describe my economic views unless asked somewhat specifically about them. If you or anybody has a question to ask me about policy, specifically economic policy, please do and I will be able to answer it.

Taxes: I believe taxes should be a tad higher than they are now. Tax cuts are bad for the nation in the longrun. Sure, you can cut them, but what happens to the highways, hospitals, schools, and federal social programs?

Spending: Fiscal responsibility. Democrats are very good at balancing the budget, and that needs to be managed more closely than it is today. Plain and simple: we don't spend more than we take in.

Business: I'm pro-Unions and believe in more ability for the common-man to improve his or her condition. I believe in less power for the corporations, as when in power they have the ability to set many aspects to whatever ways they see fit. I'm for a federal minimum wage of at least $6.50 per hour.

Subsidies: I believe in federal subsidies for farmers, as the less farmer we have, the more food we will have to import or purchase from other countries, leading to higher costs than if we were to give subsidies to farmers in the first place.

Regulation: National regulation of drugs like marijuana, and national regulation/ownership of electricity and the alternate energy forms that will emerge in the future, such as hydrogen. I also see no problem in the national ownership of public transportation systems and railways.

Unions: Unions should have the right to protest for fairer wages and better working conditions; some sort of small-scale state/federal investigation determining if the protest/strike is legitimate and fair for both sides. I believe that any company with more than 50 or so people should have full access to union protection.

Social Security: Leave it as it is. Quit using the system to pay out to illegal immigrants and recent immigrants who have come here, as I see this happen in my section of the nation more than one would think. Higher taxes, IMO, would help save social security for future generations.

Trade with other nations: We should import at least 5% less than we export. I believe certain restrictions should also be placed against goods imported that have vast abundances here in the United States.

The family budget: Nationalization of certain industries as power would hopefully ease the tension of budgets within families. Taxes would also help lift some of the debt off of parents putting children through school/college, as I mentioned above.

Inflation: While I do not believe in directly controlling inflation, I believe that certain standards should be set to keep it in check. For example, the federal minimum wage mentioned above would be based off of and adjusted accordingly to the inflation rate.

Price Controls: I believe in a concept that certain goods and items should be set to where the price would not be allowed to increase more than 10-15% over the course of one year. Other than that, free market. =p

heh, couldn't see it as too different than 2000 or 2004.
I think unless you had some conservative or libertarian positions to swing certain people, not much would change.

Haha! Not after I create my new country, the Democratic Socialist States of America!

Just kidding, though.
