After two terms of Feingold, we have two completely new tickets for this race. After a messy primary, which split between Illinois' senior senator, Barack Obama, and Adrian Lucas, Goverrnor of Connecticut, Obama wins and selects Lucas in a unity ticket. The Republicans easily nominate Mike Canning, the nationally-popular governor of Missouri, wil Greg Hernez, the GOP house minority leader from Georgia, as his VP.

Day 1: Nebraska heads to the polls, and gives Canning the first EVs of the election.

Canning leads, 4-0.

Day 2: Pennsylvania votes, and narrowly supports Obama/Lucas, 51-49.

Obama leads, 20-4.

Day 3: Arizona heads to the polls, and by an unexpectedly large margin, gives 12 EVs to Canning/Hernez 54-46.

Obama leads, 20-16.

Day 4: South Carolina heads to the polls and easily supports Canning/Hernez.

Canning leads, 24-20.

Day 5: Georgia, Hernez's home state, easily votes Canning, 57-43; giving him a further 16 EVs.

Canning leads, 40-20.

Days 6+7: Nothing much happens. Canning spends the weekend in Iowa; Obama visits his homestate and Iowa on Sunday.

Map after 5 states:

I can't get rid of the 5th EV in Nebraska; just pretend it doesn't exist.

Day 8: Idaho heads to the polls, and unsurprisingly supports Canning 65-35. Canning is starting to build up some decent momentum.

Canning leads, 43-20.

Day 9: Tennessee votes, and gives Canning another 11 EVs, 54-46.

Canning leads, 54-20.

Day 10: Canning is on a roll, but there is some relief for Obama as he wins Rhode Island.

Canning leads, 54-24.

Day 11: Obama has another easy win, in DC.

Canning leads, 54-27.

Day 12: Due to Obama's success in the last two days, the gap has closed in Iowa, but they still show a slight Canning lead. This proves to be true that night, as he wins 50.3%-49.7%, gaining 5 EVs.

Canning leads, 59-27.

Days 13+14: Obama spends Saturday in New Hampshire and Sunday in Puerto Rico. Canning spends Saturday in Arkansas and joins Obama in Puerto Rico on Sunday for the first debate, in Spanish and English, languages both presidential candidates are fluent in. The debate is won by Obama, which was unsurprising as it was based on the Democrat's strongest suit, minority rights.

Canning leads, 145-43.

Day 30: Obama gets some relief, after 10 days with no good news, winning New York and it's 30 EVs.

Day 31: Virginia heads to the polls and delivers it's 14 EVs to Canning, who is looking like he'll be president very early.

Canning leads, 159-73.

Day 32: Maine heads to the polls. Supported by the momentum he's built up, Canning manages to take Maine, although he only wins the first CD by 302 votes.

Canning leads, 163-73.

Day 33: New Mexico heads to the polls, and votes for Canning 53-47.

Canning leads 168-73.

Days 34+35: Obama is feeling pretty low at the moment, and Canning pretty triumphant; as both candidates spend the entire weekend in Florida. A debate is held in Orlando on Sunday night, which Obama easily wins, and this sparks him nd the Democratic party up a bit. He certainly hasn't lost yet…

1) Look at the states which have voted
2) You can't see 20 years into the future
3) You know very little about Canning
4) It's a very different system then at present
5) Obama can still realistically get over 280 EVs

I suppose there could be some realignment, but a Democrat losing Maine now is going down hard.
