WalterMitty seems to think so:

both are pretty horrible people, but i think john edges out mark for the title of worst warner.

i doubt i would have voted for gore even if someone held a gun to my head.  what a horrible person he is.

romney is just an all around awful person.

both edwards and santorum are horrible people.

but, anyway, im glad sarbanes is leaving.  he is quite thehorrible person.

obviopusly nelson would be the favorite at this point.

however, he is a pretty weak incumbent, mainly due to the fact that he has no talent(s) that deem him worthy of being a senator.

the state of florida deserves better.

casey and santorum are both horrible people.

Yes.  And of course, I am a populist, so Walter Mitty thinks bad of me, but I also think bad of him.

don't forget his latest "Ron Paul is a horrible person".

I don't think they're necessarily a horrbile person, unless they have that as an additional attribute.  I may disagree  with them and think thier political veiws are f---ed up, that doesn't mean they're a bad person.

Er, no.  The only way one's political philosophy could possibly make you a bad person is if the philosophy itself was completely opposed to what it means to be a good person (i.e., if the philosophy is like opebo's).  Simply disagreeing with that person doesn't make that person bad.  It doesn't even make that person wrong, which is something that many people could stand to learn.

Depends on how far oppposite. For instance, Al is not a bad person, but Karl Marx is.

I dunno.  From Walters posts which you have supplied, it looks like he thinks people on both sides of the aisle are horrible.  Sounds pretty fair to me.  Smiley

As far as in general, no.  Our nation is great because we can express our difference of opinions openly and without fear.  However, like in the current Congress, if we cannot get past the disagreement and work together, it only hurts us all and not the person you disagree with.

No, not necessarily. There are communists out there who think that the system they advocate will help people, and for that reason the support it - they don't think it'll be an evil system, they just want to do good for other people. However, good intentions can have the worst results possible, so it's always good to think things through.

great quotes!

of course i stand behind all of thsoe statements (especially the one on paul sarbanes <cring>)

as someone else pointed out, i dont reserve the 'awful' or horrible designations for members of the other party.  there are plenty of awful republicans, even some who are quite similar to to me in terms of ideology.  for example, i think christine whitman is pretty horrible.

populists are my complete opposite.  by and large, most of them are pretty horrid.

I was about to say no, but then noticed that 4 Democrats had posted, 3 of them saying no, 2 libertarians have posted saying no, while only 1 Republican has posted saying "depends".

Sorry MODU, not intentional. Smiley One independent for "in general, no."

Of course it is absurd in the real world. In fact, I feel sorry for people who think someone is necessarily a bad person for their political views. Some people are, but only a very few who actually go out and commit clear unjustice in the name of extreme politics.

I think Everett and the factor are fairly close when it comes to the Real World.  While we can be highly disagreeable here online, when you're face to face, you tend to be more tollerant.  However, some people will just get their backs up and challenge you until you cry mercy.  For them, you just smile, say thank you, and walk off.  Smiley

Hell no. My very good friend is an utopian socialist and I love to argue with him. Smiley One of friend is far right nationalist or even fascist and I like him too very much.
