New York Times paid $21 million for taxes in 2014

Another right wing lie down the drains.

Seeing the theory that the tax docs were leaked by Marla Maples around various blogs and publications. The ride never ends!

He reported $916 Million in businesses losses in a year when he was AHEAD of the U.S. stockmarket. Very odd.

Lends a lot of smoke to the theory that Marla or Tiffany Trump sent them to both papers

Marla had once threatened to scuttle his 1999 reform party nomination bid. Trump and his lawyers went after her hard legally and withheld alimony payments to keep her silent

It is likely that she is still pissed with Trump about that

It is a theory that is going around. Well Marla would certainly have a copy of what was sent, and of course she lives in NYC right now and in 1999 when she threatened to spill the beans on Trump if he ran for prez he withheld her alimony.
https://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/during-1999-run-trump-refused-to-pay-ex-wifes-alimony-when-s?utm_term=.qrnG5j2NW#.iwgmXg4dV

And if you were someone currently inside Trump's organization and wanted to leak tax docs, wouldn't you release something more recent?

It may also explain why NYT feel free to release the actual documents, because they were given to them by one of the signatories of said docs.

Interesting theory but let me propose an alternative. 1995 was probably chosen for its dramatic content.   I doubt that Trump had that high carry forward losses since then. As for Marla Maples (Trump), there really is no reason for her to do this. If she had any beef with Trump, she could milk it more if she waited for him to become President, so why torpedo him now? I suspect this is a source who does not like Trump and had access to the 1995 tax returns (a bank official, casino licensing official, lawyer who represented him or his then wife or even the accountant who compiled this.

Of course, we'll never know until we get the full tax returns. Smiley

It's clear this is Trump's doing.

The way he avoided paying taxes is a loophole used by NYT used in 2014, and Hillary also and was a loophole that was put in by Bill to help his rich banker friends.

If anything, the complete leaking of NYT not paying taxes in 2014 straight afterwards by Forbes really proves it was a play by Trump.

Wow! Look, we're going to have to take down Trump's companies from the stock market until we can figure out what is going on. We have been taken like chumps the past decade, we are going to have to have a complete and utter shutdown of Trump's stocks. Or even the entire Stock Market folks.

She's got this in the bag:

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/donald-trump-says-he-brilliantly-used-laws-to-pay-as-little-tax-as-possible/

He will spend 36 days stumbling over this issue, and he never seems to get his message across with the right amount of honesty and political suave.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/05/politics/donald-trump-tax-adviser-returns/index.html

So I guess the real genius behind the taxes filed by Trump in '95 is the team who did the taxes.

So much for Trump being a "genius". He had zero involvement in the process except to sign the document.

Just wanted to remind people what a fraud and liar Trump is.

Perhaps the real issue here is Trump has for decades consistently lived the most garishly over the top lavish lifestyle of literally anyone in the country. His gold plated toilet lifestyle would've made the most corrupt and hedonistic Roman Senator blush. And yet he loses a billion dollars in one year while the economy is doing stupendous, yet it has no discernible impact on his uber-playboy lifestyle whatsoever (judge for yourself whether "his" losses were "other people's money" as he brazenly brags of playing with and blowing), and he likely avoids federal taxes for the next 20 years.

NOW he tells voters "I'm on your side" in curing the "problem"? As if anyone with an IQ above 3 thinks he really believes this is actually "a problem"? Is there one iota of anything Trump has ever said or done in his life, let alone his campaign, that indicates he'll support any measure that reduces his net worth by a single penny?

OK, I do not fault Trump for doing what he did, he did what anyone in his position would do. What I don't like is how he would shame people for decades about their lack of tax paying and then promise he would release his returns when he had no intention to.

Look, he made a lot of money and he used the loopholes to his advantage and that's fine, but it's how he portrays himself that bothers me.
