Its kinda strange isn't it? But everytime the Donald is ahead of the curve, he goes out of his way to sabotage is chances; the debate, the twitter storm, the tax release matter, the attacks on the gold star mother. Does anyone see a pattern here? I am beginning to believe that the Clinton's had Trump run for the GOP nomination as a means to an end; they feared Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio and it being the year of the outsider, Trump was the perfect judas goat; but since the moment he won the nomination; there has been a chain of misteps.

I've been wondering about this since the very beginning. Was his initial campaign an idea to have some fun, get some exposure, build brand awareness, and then things took on a live of their own.

Even I have wondered this at times where he would say something stupid just when it would start to look like he would win.

No,   I really believe he just bumbled his way into winning the primary with his bluster talk, and now just finds himself not really knowing how to behave or what to do.

I think his ego is too large to accept going into a national election to be a pre-determined loser.

I don't think he's a Clinton plant, but I do think he cares more about starting a movement than actually winning.

I'm really torn. I used to think he was a plant, or has his eyes mainly set on his eventual news network, but I'm wondering if maybe his ego won't take losing for an answer. It doesn't explain why he keeps sabotaging himself, but I just don't know.

I have given up on Trump.

Just when you think he is redeeming himself in the eyes of the public he goes off on a tangent again.

His campaign cannot convince him he has to follow their advice if he wants to have any chance at all of winning.

He has destroyed the momentum he had going for him just two weeks ago.

Electorally, Trump is doomed.

I warned the Republicans months ago this would happen.

I weep for my party.

Lifelong conservative Republican here. Our party lost its mind and fell for Trump's con. I will never forgive the RNC and the primary voters who gave us Trump as the nominee.

If Trump had lost the nomination and another candidate (say Cruz or Rubio) had lost a close race than Trump would be back in 2020 like Reagan in 1980.

Trump wants to win.

Trump also does not want to do what it takes to win - that is, sticking to a script, preparing for debates, and censoring his own thoughts on Twitter - except for very brief moments.

He's basically Sarah Palin without the lipstick.

He probably wants to win to some degree, but isn't willing to do what it takes to improve his chances.

Considering that he is unwilling to listen to his advisors for a few months for purely electoral purposes, what is the chance he would listen to them when governing? Shouldn't that have been a more important concern?

I agree.

And to extend that point further, the task of winning the election can be likened to the task of performing the job of President.

In the same way, I think he does not have the discipline to do what it takes to be President, if he were to win.

His ego wants him to win but he doesn't want to govern. So his way out is to implode and blame fraud.

I think he wants to, but his pride is most important, and he can't control it.

This, unfortunately, seems to be the case.

Lol, he's insane as well. Also voting for Jill Stein so he's a proven fraud.
