I am not talking about in this election alone, but in future presidential elections, how will these states trend if they do so at all?

Washington is going to trend D in future elections unless there are some serious shifts in the party platforms.

Lol @ Louisiana trending Democratic
? Am I missing something? Seems reasonable to say as it was one of the few states to swing towards Obama in 2012.

Lol @ Louisiana trending Democratic

Republicans can't really max out the Southern White vote anymore, as we've been on that fool's errand for like 6 decades.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly makes so many people think that Illinois is trending Republican?

I think the GOP is about to implement a "Northern Strategy" that will help them in the Midwest and Northeast.

Cook County is losing population, especially relative to the rest of the state. Since 1960 population growth has been stagnant, while Illinois has grown by 40% since then, and is growing by 5% per decade or something. As the rest of Illinois : Cook ratio increases, the state will get more Republican

Well "Upper Midwest Strategy". The Northeast is "Socially Liberal" except for NH and PA which is bad for Republicans.
