Steve Schmidt: Mike Pence wasn't able to move the needle on anything Trump said (but said was in a tough spot because of Trump, which is accurate)

It seemed like a tie to me. Kaine had better points, but Pence had better composure. Pence had nothing to work with, but he kept his cool.
it's a shame that Kaine didn't keep his cool... he would have won easily if he had.

CNN: "Here are some idiots who haven't decided who they're voting for. Who won the debate?"
Idiots: *Kaine*
Jake Tapper: "Yeah well these people are from Richmond, where Kaine was the mayor and was their governor and is now their senator, so ignore these idiots we're showing you right now. Back to you, Wolf."

CNN focus group of undecideds said that Kaine won

Jake Tapper noted that being in VA they may be skewed to Kaine.

which raises the question, Why did they set up a focus group in Richmond VA?

Paul Begala and Chris Hayes seem to be pushing the theory that Pence was debating for himself  with an eye on 2020 (even if that means he didn't always defend Trump) , Kaine didn't care how bad he looked as long as he hurt Trump.

So their spin seems to be Pence won and Trump lost

Going to be hard to find a poll's worth of people that watched that snoozefest.

Dear God, I hope not. They're utter garbage whose sole function is to give the vapid, morally inert human jackals on cable news something to carry on about while they fill airtime.

MSNBC is saying essentially the same thing.

The spin from the MSM is that Pence helped himself for 2020 but didn't do anything for Trump. It almost seems like a giveaway into Trump's real situation in the polling (very poor)

How is this a long-term win for Mike Pence? Aside from the ~5 minutes on abortion toward the end, he spent nearly the entire debate talking about his running mate... most of which involved either denying that Trump had said things that all of us know that he's said or making incredibly tendentious excuses.

LA Times 3-journalist panel awarded the first round to Pence and the second two rounds as a Draw, overall a Draw...

He was calm and came across well on TV.....sadly that kind of stuff matters and people will remember that and not what was actually said.
