I don't see how this is a bad thing.  Afterall, the Internet originally belonged to the US Defense Department, and large portions of it still do.  I do not see why the US government should give away something that their citizens paid for through tax dollars.

OK, first of all, this is nothing new.  The "news" is that Bush wants to continue the U.S. government's current powers regarding ICANN.

Secondly, hasn't there been several warnings over the past few years about how terrorists could hijack critical services over the Internet.  Once again, the Left tries to put Bush in a lose-lose situation: if such an attack occured then he would be blasted for not taking the threat seriously, but if he takes the threat seriously then he's blasted for acting like a dictator.

Third of all, let's put this in perspective.  The U.S. nuclear arsenal is what, about 10,000 warheads?  I think that gives Bush just a tad more power than his authority over Internet servers.  Oh no, the leader of the Free World has power!  God help us!

You supposedly want smaller government.  Why would you want the government to keep control of something so large and important as th Internet?

This is conservative tyranny.  I mean, when do we start drawing our firearms against these thugs?

We're talking about the U.S. government versus an international organization.

The military is large and important.

More mush from the loony left.  The next thing they'll be complaining about is the interstate highway system.

The control isn't any greater than now.

What can I say? I learned about stupid assumptions from the best.

he [Allen] is the dumbest Senator in Washington.

If Santorum had his way, he's put a camera in everyone's bedroom and you'd be put in jail if you used birth control and/or banged your wife/girlfriend in anything other than the missionary position.

No go run along and suck on your mommy's tits like a good little home-schooled boy.

One of the things I used to likeabout Bandit was he was so over the top he was (unintentionally) humorous.

Now JFern has reached that level.

I can imagine both in slow, stupid southern accents

Gore> "I invented the internet"
Bush> "I control the internet"
Gore> "The internet is not yours George"
Bush> "Yes it is"
Gore> "Give it back George!"
Bush> "Make me!
Gore> "I'm taking this to the Supreme Court!"
Bush> "Don't mess with Texas"

What can I say? I learned about stupid assumptions from the best.

The far-right wing of the Republican party?

Anyway, the things I said were TRUE. Well actually, George Allen is only the 2nd dumbest Senator in Washington. The dumbest is Jim Bunning from Kentucky.

Anyone see Allen on Hardball tonight? You can almost hear the wheels turning in his head as he struggles to answer questions. He's like the politician answer to Forrest Gump.

On Monday, I happened to poctor a test for a gent who designs compurter software that includes statistical packages (He actually has a Ph D in compsci).  I mentoded the "coin toss equals polling" comments of yours.  And we laughed and laughed and laughed.    That helped ease the tension after the test.

The really funny thing about your posts is that you post links which contradict what you say.  You are really good for comic relief.

Ah, here is what the article from CNN:

Quote

It's not exactly "grabbing power" or interfering with us, since it exactly the system were have now.
