Kinf of a no-brainer... Obama was Person of the Year in 2008 and 2012, George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004. You get elected president, you're Person of the Year.

Even if Clinton had won, I think there's a reasonable chance Trump still would have been chosen.

Maybe, but then again... they also picked Clinton over Perot in 1992.

I would've picked Bernie Sanders if Hillary won actually.

Bernie was a close second. It's a shame he will be too old in 2020.

LOL, Trump said it's a "great honor". No it isn't. This clown doesn't understand this isn't an award (though TIME kind of made it one by giving it to Giuliani in 2001).

It's possible that he perfectly understands; he's just happy to have his face on yet another front cover.

Last year the FAILING Time Mag rebuked me as person of the year and ratings went way down! This year they needed to pick a WINNER to increase their selling numbers. Pathetic!

Sometimes it is an award and sometimes it isn't.  How else do you explain giving it in 2014 to the Ebola fighters?

Well, unless you're Herbert Hoover. Every president from FDR to Trump has been Person of the Year (except Ford).

So they rejected the greatest President of modern times, Gerald Ford? Sad! That probably caused a drop in sales for TIME, resulting in the economic crisis of the late 1970s.

Bush was Person of the Year in 2000. There's probably an unwritten role that you can't be Person of the Year twice in a row... with Richard Nixon being the only exception so far. Ironically, Nixon wasn't named Person of the Year in the year he resigned the presidency. He was beaten by King Faisal of Saudi Arabia in 1974.

In any case, either Osama Bin Laden or Mohamed Atta should have been Person of the Year in 2001. But then they chickened out because they thought the people would be too dumb to understand that becoming Person of the Year isn't an award (perhaps rightfully so...).

The real history-maker of 2001 was Osama bin Laden. It simply would have been in extremely-offensive taste to have the cover with the image of the person that Americans most uniformly and intensely hated since Hitler and Tojo.

Now he's whining about it:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/12/10/trump-doesnt-seem-like-person-year-label/95260548/

Apparently he was offended that he wasn't named Pussygrabber of the Year.

He's going to either have a stroke, quit or kill himself within a year. His poor ego just can't take this level of oppression.

Trump, the biggest con of the century. I guess that's worthy of being a figure of note on a silly news rag.
