I'm not convinced it would happen.

If I were Pence, I'd pick Condoleeza Rice.  Pence has enough SoCon cred to make that stick.

Imo, most Republicans would want nothing to do with the 2016 ticket in this situation. Basically the GOP should choose any Congresswoman who would accept the position

Nikki Haley (or maybe Condi) would be the best for it, but I'm not sure at all that she would want the role.
