Melania Trump refused to do a joint video statement with her husband as the scandal about his past obscene comments about women broke, The New York Times reported Sunday.

Immediately after the Washington Post published the 2005 tape on Friday, the Trump campaign suggested that the couple should appear together on camera and address the controversy.

However, anonymous sources within the campaign told the Times that Melania Trump had no interest in doing a joint video statement with her husband.

I think you're correct.  Donald Trump treats his many wives like chattel.  The problem for him is that he has been so thoroughly exposed that he may have trouble tricking a fourth and fifth woman into marrying him.

Two key items from this campaign that tell us everything we need to know:
1. The GOP politicians continuously refer to "our wives" and "our daughters" and "our women" in their condemnations of Trump.  They literally don't care about this man targeting enormous segments of the population until it presents a threat to them and "their own."
2. Hillary Clinton is apparently responsible for things that her husband did.

I'm more convinced than ever that sexism is a pervasive problem in our modern culture.  The response to Trump by Republicans only inadvertently proves that further.

Regardless of all the work she's done for the country, many people -- including females -- believe that Hillary just rode on the coattails of her husband, and that's the only reason she has been as successful as she has. Forget that she had her own career before they got married and that Hillary chose to take a back seat to Bill's aspirations, as so many females do regarding their husband's careers.

Yes, sexism is alive and well in this country, and we females live with it every day. And yes, it is slowly getting better.

Neither will (although both may not vote for Trump either ). And that has been Hillary's problem all along. She is not a natural outlet for these voters; she is highly skilled and competent but even more highly unlikable.

Let's face it, even before this latest incident, she was essentially running unopposed for President (certainly I do not count as serious competition a Reality TV actor or a policy-deficient former governor). She should have been cleaning the floor with them and yet, until last week, the race was still too close to call?!?
