Yes, had Clinton wiped the floor with him, the party would have likely gone with the nuclear option. Better the devil you know.

The other consideration being missed is that being an aggressive douche in a Town Hall format is a suicidal move. Clinton couldn't throw the punches required in a town hall, Trump has no shame and was going for scorched earth.

Hillary did the right thing by letting off the gas against Trump.   We need to keep this loser on the ticket so the Republicans will be lucky to get 35% of the PV.  He's down to his Breitbart/Hannity base.

Also Wiki leaks is irrelevant. Their last leak being so lame proves they have nothing.

Trump stopped the bleeding. That is the good news for him. The bad news, is that he's behind, and did nothing to assuage concerns from the cohort of Romney voters that have decamped from his tent (educated whites, particularly white woman), that his temperament makes him unfit to be POTUS. So he's stabilized the race in a losing position. The Pub party must be relieved that the potential Trump collapse dragging down a bunch of down ballot Pubs has probably faded ... at least until the next tape dump of Trump saying something Trumpish.  So the Pub party is by no means out of woods.

CNN Poll:
Clinton: 57%
Trump: 34%

But hey, when you have the expectations of a retarded baby learning how to drool, everybody's a winner.

Congratulations.
Peace out. 👌

I'm so glad to see that the majority of people out there saw Clinton as the winner !
trump dropped the ball in the debate by conducting himself in a very trashy and unpresidential manner ; no where near being a good leader for our nation.

I was overconfident that Hillary would score a K.O. Trump did better than I expected, had a couple decent zingers, put her on the defensive. He also dissed his running mate, said he would jail Hillary, and had absolutely no policy points other than "Hillary sucks and I'm better". Well, where is the evidence, bud? I call a draw.

I just wanna ask red and blue avatars alike to step back and realize that whoever you think the winner was, the loser was US. This debate featured nothing to feel positive about for the future of our country. It exposed us as the most shallow and divided we have ever been.

The YouGov post-debate poll : Clinton 47%, Trump 42%

According to YouGov's post-debate poll, which interviewed 812 registered voters who watched the debate, Hillary Clinton won the debate against Donald Trump by 47% to 42%.
Clinton narrowly won undecideds 44% to 41%.
She was also considered “more Presidential” by a 57% to 31% margin.
There was a gender gap, however: women thought Clinton won by 50-38%, while men thought Trump won by 46-43%.
71% also say Trump interrupted more often, compared to 7% who thought Clinton interrupted more.

That doesn't sound like the assessment that leads to a draw.

He's equivalent of 8-10 points down with 5 minutes left. Hillary ran short but still has the ball. To draw the debate, he needed a turnover.

Yeah, I guess you're right. If I had to pick, I'd say Clinton was better. But the whole thing just reflected so poorly on the country that I have a tough time declaring anyone a "victor".

If Trump wasn't being graded on the rich white man's curve...he would've lost yugely.

Since he is a rich white man, people have such low expectations of him they actually think he did well.

Clinton won. Once again, the sexist clown had no idea what he was talking about. He fed his supporters again with dumb phrases.

Trump will get most of the undecideds after this. Trump wins PV 48-46%.

For sure. And pigs will start flying.

Why do people keep saying this nonsense? He didn't stop the bleeding since the problem for him isn't coming from losing GOP support, but from losing college educated white men and women. And this performance did nothing to stop that.

Finally watched the debate on YouTube.

Most memorable things:

1. Trump constantly interrupting Hillary and then whining to the moderators about how unfairly they treat him.

2. Fighting radical Islam as Donald Trump's solution for about everything. Pussygate? We must fight ISIS! Islamophobia? We must fight ISIS!

Who won? I wouldn't really call it winning... but Hillary came across as more likeable, since Trump acted like a jerk. Then again, that wasn't an act.

Are there any Johnson voters or undecided-leaners here?

Who did you think won tonight? I would appreciate your input.

Trump did better than Clinton, but the whole thing was just a insult competition.

A Washington Times online poll sees Gary Johnson as the winner: http://www.washingtontimes.com/polls/2016/oct/9/who-won-presidential-debate/

With the benefit of hindsight is clearly Clinton, since she managed to drive Trump insane.
