Assuming Hillary wins this year... which Republican presidential candidates in 2020 are most likely to be the most like Trump, and how?
(besides Trump himself, in the possibility he runs again)

He won’t run again.

Christie is definitely similar to the Trumpster. Both are bullies.

Are there any GOP statewide officeholders at the moment who are largely in synch with Trump on both foreign policy and trade, regardless of whether they have presidential ambitions?

I can see Cotton trying to run on an anti-immigration platform with some populist tendencies. But he also is a neoconservative and he supports traditional Republican policies on taxes, spending and trade so he won't be an actual Trumpist candidate. Palin can be the alt-right/Breitbart candidate if she runs (but I don't think she will run). Maybe Christie or some random businessman.

I don't have anyone in mind, but it seems that a good "improved-Trump" candidate would be a veteran with a flair for rhetoric and oranizational / executive ability. If such a veteran has held minor public office, that makes them even better.

As a relatively young member of Trump's inner circle of advisers, and with his own elective experience, Christie seems best positioned to be Trump's "heir"

I could see Palin running, as a way to regain relevance.

Scott Brown might do it too, looking at the relative success of Gingrich and Trump. Though he would have more self-control.

But is he going to run as a trade restrictionist, promoting Trump-ist foreign policy?  He could run in a Trump-y style as far as temperament goes, but I have yet to see any evidence that even the leading Trump apologists like Christie, Giuliani, and Pence are interested in joining Trump in his departures from GOP orthodoxy.

Sarah Palin or Rick Perry.

I think if the TX Lt. Gov Dan Patrick ever seeks higher office then he'll likely be another one too.
