Eastern Europe results:

✓Poland - 55%
Czech Republic - 45%

Not as many people voted in the last poll. Hopefully more people participate this time.

As a reminder, here's the map I'm using for regions:  https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7a/Europe_subregion_map_UN_geoscheme.svg/680px-Europe_subregion_map_UN_geoscheme.svg.png

I'll go with Italy, but I like Albania, Croatia, and Spain quite a bit as well. Greece is also a cuturally fascinating country.

NOTE: For regions such as Kosovo, whose status is in dispute, I will always include them as a separate option.

Croatia was tempting, but I have to go with Portugal.

Portugal, but won't be surprised if Italy wins. Italy is just too conservative to me, and seems pretty corrupt. Portugal seems much more liberal.

This.

I could prattle off a good list of reasons why (including ancestral bias), but rather than that, I'll let this theme alone do the speaking.

I voted for Slovenia. I haven't been there since it was part of Yugoslavia, but it was a nice place to visit and had a lot to offer for its size. The Postojna Caverns are among the longest cave systems in Europe. Slovenia is also home to Lipica the ancestral home of the famous Lipizzaner horses.

Italy by far. It has a lot of problems, but generally even its problems are outgrowths or misapplications of far better attributes.
