If arguing against immigration is by definition hate speech then indeed there's not much point in discussion of immigration.

Arguing about immigration wasn't the problem. People can do that until they're blue in the face for all I care. The problem is the number of posts that were straight up bigoted that were increasingly appearing. I don't consider supporting immigration restrictions necessarily bigoted either; what I consider bigoted are posts that call New York City a "third world hellhole" because of the number of minority immigrants.

So one of the things you will not see me do is lock a thread on a topic because of personal feelings toward posts or posters. All points of view are worth hearing about and if you don't agree, you have the right to ignore them or report the comments. If you disagree and/or are a young HS/college SJW, I would point you to this wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

The RAISE Act has huge implications and merits a full on discussion that lasts longer than partisan back and forth for a few pages and real merit discussion for only a few posts.

I support this Act with some strings (per my posts in the other thread). Feel free to continue the discussion on immigration system modification here if you wish.

The First Amendment protects the right of anyone to say what they want on a private web site internet message board without having threads locked, don't you know!

It's a good policy that any thread that has more than 5 posts from Mortimer to be deleted.

Also, now that Klartext has been banned from this forum, shouldn't we rename this thread? I can think of a few good replacements for him.

It's about time to retire this thread and start a new one, so just name that new one after someone else.

That would be too civil and dignified for Atlas.
