Context: speaking of Mike Pence:

Why would he leave a ticket that is almost certain to win?

Nonsensical #analysis even by 2016 forum standards:

Trump's going to win Iowa no matter what at this point--this is the same state whose (elected) state supreme court said it's okay for a guy to fire a woman because it's not up to him to be responsible and control his desires.

There's a certain segment of the Democratic Party that thinks that religion as a whole is bad, that any hint of Christian-inspired morality, policy, symbolism, language, etc. in American life needs to be purged, and that those who believe in Christianity are foolish.  At least, that's the perception of most Christians on the right.  And let's be fair, there's definitely something to it.

Lately there's been a rise in churches that pander to liberal youth by saying, "we're the cool church.  We're the tolerant church.  Come to us if you're tired of the Republicans in your church."  And you go there and every sermon will be about how God loves whatever minority/LGBT group, or weed.  The two things liberal millennials care about.  It's pretty lame, what's supposed to be a completely separate and very important part of your life (and it is to me), has just become, for a lot of left-leaning youth, just another extension of their oh-so-important political identity.  They can't read the new testament without thinking about how it relates to the 2016 election or whatever.

It's a shame.

Prostitution is one of those issues where people are stuck in an irrational mindset due to tradition and other things. Prostitution being illegal hurts prostitutes more than anyone else. The only reason prostitutes are dependent on abusive pimps is because prostitution is illegal. The oft suggested idea of only arresting pimps and johns (aside from making no legal or moral sense) doesn't fix this since prostitution would still be an illicit business in that scenario and they would still need pimps to "push" for them and get their clients in a lot of cases. If it were legal they could work independently and easily advertise like any other business (especially in the age of the internet) or work at a heavily regulated legal brothel. If you're actually interested in what's best for sex workers this is the best scenario.

The reasons people oppose legal prostitution are-

A.- Traditional Western/Christian morality (why conservatives oppose it) backed up by a bunch of pseudo-intellectual gibberish about "culture rot"

B.- Women with cuckold (or I guess cuckqueen) anxieties who subconsciously think their husbands/boyfriends will got out and screw a bunch of prostitutes if it's legal. Men's sexual anxieties/insecurities/frustration have been oft discussed as having an effect on their political beliefs (see Dr. Strangelove, or posts in this thread) so this is a perfectly valid hypothesis.

It's actually not a terrible post that makes good (if albeit somewhat crude) points until it gets to that last paragraph.

Donald Trump (R-NY) / Michael Pence (R-IN) - 300 EVs, (47.1%)
Hillary Clinton (D-NY) / Tim Kaine (D-VA) - 238 EVs, (48.4%)
Gary Johnson (L-NM) / William Weld (L-MA) - 0 EVs, (4%)
Evan McMullin (I-UT) / Mindy Finn (I-TX) - 0 EVs, (1.1%)
Jill Stein (G-MA) / Ajamu Baraka (G-IL) - 0 EVs, (0.3%)

My gut says Trump will now win. I think MN, NH, & PA are a bit bold. and could easily go for Clinton.

But let me explain:

MN- Dissatisfied with Obamacare, Midwestern, progressive (They won't fall for Hillary), and White.
PA- Turnout will be high in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area and Central PA, while Trump will win a few counties (Bucks, Lehigh, & Luzerne) in the East. Turnout will be lower in Philadelphia and among AAs overall. This should be enough for Trump to flip the state.
NH- White, Hillary's primary loss, and just my own intuition. I'll probably be wrong on this one though.

Utah will be close and I think Trump will narrowly win the state against McMullin & Clinton splitting the vote enough.

Yeah main reason why I included it. I live in the progressive heart of Minnesota which he appears to think will go for Trump and "won't fall for Hillary" to which I can only retort "lol".

I am not using the map for percentages.  The lighter shades are my tossups, showing a guess of how each will go.

I am assuming a slight trend to Trump, and looked as past elections.  I have it at:

Clinton:  269
Trump:  269

I was not trying to come out with a tie.

A stronger trend to Trump and he wins; the tide shifts slightly to Clinton, she wins.  A tidal wave and well ....  If there is a 1980 style shift, it will go for Trump.

I would also be watching to see what the CD's in Maine and Nebraska do.  It may come down to one of those.

Very similar to me.  I actually dislike Trump as a person and all things equal prefer Clinton policies overall when compared to Trump but will vote for him for being anti-PC.  Also I want to vote for White consolidation.
This is a great example of what not to do with your vote.

What the hell does "white consolidation" mean?
Oh God, I warned you guys that Rachel Dolezel would lead to confused and deranged "trans-racial" people coming out of the woodwork and tanning salons Tongue
I consider myself trans-racial.

I actually don't consider that a completely absurd idea. (I mean sure it is in his case but I can think of plenty of cases where it wouldn't be.)

He's a classic economic liberal. He is an executive of one of the most powerful states in the country. Period.

He's a horrible candidate, he's more corrupt than the Clintons, and the Democratic base wants the party to swing back towards some socialist reform.

Frankly I think the Democrats need to avoid New York completely. Throw the local support for economically moderate socially liberal by the wayside in favor of economic populism. Treat it like the GOP treated Utah this cycle.
New York is a powerful state.  It will be key in 2020.

I think this one epitomizes "WTF"?

DeBlasio is kind of a joke in New York, right?

He could win South Carolina, especially with black voters.

This thread is stupid but she could absolutely be a serious candidate for president. Not in 2020 but maybe in 2024 after she actually wins an office. Being a Muslim is like +20 bonus points in a Democratic primary. The problem is though there aren't a lot of Muslim politicians, as there just aren't a lot of Muslims, and most of the ones we do have are too fresh off the boat to be taken seriously as politicians. As soon as someone comes along who is Muslim, can speak good English, and hasn't said anything more than vaguely pro-terrorism, the Democrats will beg them to run for president.

It's of course utterly depressing that Duck Dynasty has the strongest correlation with T***p vote, but the fact that the show that correlates most strongly with Clinton vote is Family Guy is honestly even more sickening to me. I have the feeling that this explains a lot of what's wrong with American political culture.

Someone doesn't know their election history:

As much as some on the left would like to think so the fact is repealing and NOT replacing Obamacare will have virtually no effect on the GOP. Think about what the GOP have gotten away with for the last 3 decades:

1) Massive deficits under Reagan
2) Iran-Contra
3) S&L scandal
4) Impeaching Clinton over nothing
5) The 2000 election
6) The failed Iraq War and the consequences of it that are still wreaking havoc today (refugee crisis)
7) K street and Abramoff Scandals
Cool More massive deficits under Bush
9) Hell the entire Bush presidency itself
10) Complete implosion of the economy in 2008
11) Obama obstruction in Congress
12) Obstructing SCOTUS replacement
13) Their entire conduct in the 2016 election

Despite all those things, the GOP keeps on winning so lets face it...the GOP knows their locked in no matter what they do.

I've given up on this idea that sooner or later their really "gonna goof this time"

Let's recap: Republicans in 2014 wanted sanctions on Russia, said Obama was too weak on Russia, that it was terrible what happened in Crimea. Republicans in 2016 seem almost eager to bolt to Putin's bosom and talk about poor innocent victimized Russia.

Hm, when did this change happen? Oh wait, when Trump became the nominee. Then it became all about opposing Hillary and if the RNC needed to change its opinion on Russia, whoops a daisy!

Is the GOP base on drugs? (Wait, it is. It's called partisanship).

Anyway, of course Trump is for lifting Russian sanctions. They helped him during the elections by handing Wikileaks information about Clinton. His friend Vlad most definitely looks forward to rampaging across Eastern Europe unmolested.

-This comment is detached from reality. Russia wants nothing but world peace and has no desire whatsoever for unprovoked conquest. Russia has done absolutely nothing to deserve any of its post-2013 sanctions. Trump is right; the other candidates were wrong. What happened in Krim wasn't terrible at all; just ask the Krimeans.

Are you being serious? Because centuries of Christian dominance in Europe would tell you otherwise.

Roman persecution, other European pagans, Islamic invasions, religious violence in the Reformation, the rise of Communism.  Had Hitler been successful he had plans to eventually eliminate Christianity as well.

And then, of course, there is the rest of the world.

No pagans have killed as many Christians for religious reasons as Christians did. As I said, killing Christians seems to be the main Christian doctrine: at least, it is the one thing they all happily do.

Yes! Newsom, Faulconer, Thiel, and Steve Westly are all great.

Explain what you think about Peter Thiel

He supported Meg Whitman, Justin Amash, Chuck Hagel, Jeff Flake, Richard Tisei, Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Gordon Smith, and Dino Rossi, and seems to be a libertarian-leaning moderate.

Well the only place I saw promoting that was Breitbart and some "leftist" cranks like Michael Tracey who remind me of you so much.

-Sometimes, I feel like Michael Tracey is the only journalist in America who has not lost his mind. He's a major FF.

No it doesn't. If it doesn't recognize it then a trans man marrying a trans woman is still legally a marriage between a man and a woman.

I think her vote for Carson as well as vote against Canadian drug imports will come back to haunt her, and while people are saying she'll fire up the base, you can't win with just the base as we saw last year with progressives staying home. She certainly lost any chance I'd support her with the above votes.

Warren didn't vote against Canadian drug imports.
