Deplorable State outside The Big Easy.

So every state you disagree with politically is deplorable? Come on, you're better than this.

No, just most southern ones.

This is getting old. Until 2008, most people on this forum were probably calling VA and NC deplorable states.

In my defense, the South sucking goes back to 1607, and improving only nominally on its own since.

Fixed, in a sense.

Let's not forget the Lost Colony of Roanoke (1587).  The original deplorables.

I guess so in the sense that colonialism in general is bad, but I don't think they had slavery there.

but in fairness, a number of nortnher n statges had slavery well after then. ergo my choice of date. combine slavery with teason and you've got a largely deplorable region .

Just because the North sucked doesn't mean the South didn't also suck.

Like the male/female voter map, the red states in this map are literally the best in the nation. God bless those patriotic children.

My apologies to anyone who lives in any of those states. But, honestly, every single one of the red states in that map is rural, redneck, and crappy. I'd rather be in the Hague.

The semi-competitive races I care about most apart from just the Senate majority and the Electoral College:

-McCrory vs. Cooper
-Rubio vs. Murphy
-Toomey vs. McGinty
-Burr vs. Ross
-Johnson vs. Feingold
-NO on all marijuana initiatives
-Not allowing any Southern state (other than Virginia, which is a given) to vote for Clinton
-Utah going for McMullin
-Mike Lee winning by at least 50 over Mr. Snow

Pretty much everything he's ever posted belongs here.

True, but that was especially egregious.

If it's not moral for an individual to pursue their self-interest at the expense of others, then it's not moral for a country to pursue its self-interest at the expense of other countries.

Any moral foreign policy should put universalist goals to the forefront.

There's literally nothing wrong with this post.

A morality-driven foreign policy is more likely to do harm than actual good, I'm afraid.

Still, it's hardly a "Absurd, Ignorant, Bigoted and Just Plain Awful Post".

By definition, the most moral foreign policy is the one that does the most good.

Well, do you mean you don't support gay marriage, or you think it's okay to discriminate against people for any reason? The latter could obviously be a liberty issue.
Just to be clear, libertarianism doesn't think it's okay to discriminate. We just think that it shouldn't be the government's job to force you to be a decent person as long as you're not hurting anyone.

So you support anti-discrimination laws then?

Could someone explain why this is a bad post?

Republicans should pass a law mandating that a Republican be appointed to any vacancy.

Note: DC could have also left out the "here" and it still would have been a bad post.

That remark about being a liberal at 20 and a conservative at 40 seems relevant here.

Nah.  I'll come home when this ticket is sent packing after a terrible defeat.

The next ticket will be just as deplorable.  Welcome to the new Republican nightmare.  Fortunately, we have a party that does represent GOP values.  They're called "Democrats."

43% of your primary voters voted for a socialist; you're on crack, friend.
This is just a fact (except the crack part, I'm assuming). Socialism is not "GOP values".
a. sanders isn't a socialist
b. your false equivalence between sanders-style social democracy and trump's literal fascism is bad and wrong

To be absolutely fair, I don't think that's a "false equivalence" so much as a statement that Sanders does not represent GOP values.

Michelle is a much bigger feminist than Hillary could ever hope to be by refusing to piggyback on her husband to jump start a political career.

Should have expected the cesspool of America, rural America, to vote for Adolf Trump.

It's a week later and Democrats are still trying to scramble up beef struggling to deal with a comfortable margin of a loss.

Sure, Hillary ran up the board with Californians and New Yorkers to seal a popular vote win but she lost the majority of florida, the majority of ohio, the majority of arizona, the majority of pennsylvania, the majority of michigan, the majority of iowa, the majority of north carolina... even nearly a majority of new hampshire, and almost a majority of minnesota (sad!).

Thankfully the founding fathers designed a system smarter than you are to balance a voice for the nation as a whole, not three populous states.

Donald Trump (R-NY) / Michael Pence (R-IN) - 300 EVs, (47.1%)
Hillary Clinton (D-NY) / Tim Kaine (D-VA) - 238 EVs, (48.4%)
Gary Johnson (L-NM) / William Weld (L-MA) - 0 EVs, (4%)
Evan McMullin (I-UT) / Mindy Finn (I-TX) - 0 EVs, (1.1%)
Jill Stein (G-MA) / Ajamu Baraka (G-IL) - 0 EVs, (0.3%)

My gut says Trump will now win. I think MN, NH, & PA are a bit bold. and could easily go for Clinton.

But let me explain:

MN- Dissatisfied with Obamacare, Midwestern, progressive (They won't fall for Hillary), and White.
PA- Turnout will be high in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area and Central PA, while Trump will win a few counties (Bucks, Lehigh, & Luzerne) in the East. Turnout will be lower in Philadelphia and among AAs overall. This should be enough for Trump to flip the state.
NH- White, Hillary's primary loss, and just my own intuition. I'll probably be wrong on this one though.

Utah will be close and I think Trump will narrowly win the state against McMullin & Clinton splitting the vote enough.

We need to offer Spark an apology for putting this in here

That map is just a generic Trump victory map; it doesn't have much similarity to what actually happened.

Not in the short term.  Democrats need to deemphasize climate change going forward until and unless it is obviously linked to an economic crash.

The mans' defining achievement is making life miserable for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Calling him a good person is not pro lgbtq+.

This, especially calling him a "Massive FF" and dismissing anyone who dislikes him for his LGBT record as a "one-issue voter." I mean, if you want to say "Lean FF, I like most of his policies but not HB2" that's another story. But calling him a Massive FF is not really consistent with being pro-LGBT, unless you can think of something REALLY amazing that McCrory has done.

This is what I find funny about this forum.  Everyone keeps thinking I'm aggressive, yet all I do is make posts and just say what I see occurring with different people on the forum.  I'm very perplexed why people keep up with this.  I've seen no change in my demeanor, nor has anyone I personally come into contact with.
Alas, some things will elude me, since no one wants to try and explain what changed with me and just keep trying to pile on.

Maybe stop calling people you're arguing with "Honey." It comes off as condescending.

Isn't omegascarlet also pro-eugenics/"mandatory abortions"? So Mortimer's views aren't uncommon on this forum...

Pretty sure Scarlet dropped those views.

I'm pretty liberal on lgbtq issues, but I do find it funny how liberals think it's a terrible crime for people to consider changing their sexual orientation, but at the same time encourage people to not accept their biological gender.
