So?

Personally, I'd have to say ~30. Past that, self-parody starts getting kind of inevitable

Either 15 or 20 (not self-hating, marginally understanding of other people's lack of lives)

Which is why I've put some socks in the oven in case my PPD gets too high.

It really depends of the content of your posts.

If your posts only contain a sentence or two, 20 posts is acceptable.
If your posts contain several paragraphs, then I hope your not posting more than 5.

It depends. Twenty posts for example are not twenty posts. Some posts are longer, others are shorter. That differs from topic to topic, the poster’s background knowledge or whether he/she is trying to give serious answers instead of just trolling. I confess that not all my posts have the same level of substance, and some are more sarcastic. But that’s ok I think as long as someone is not only positing nonsense or stuff that does not actually contribute to a good discussion.

I think an average of around ten to twenty posts on a single day is good, sometimes a little more, sometimes less. Though I myself don’t post every single day. That depends on other factors like job, private activities (family, friends etc.) and own willingness to do so. Since I read the most news in the morning, I tend to post in the morning hours from the office, because I have the time to so. Afternoon is mostly filled with business meetings and in the evening, I spend time with either my wife or friends. On weekends, when I have time and motivation Wink

I voted that >10 is too many, but as others have said, it depends a lot on the length and content of the posts. In my case, I tend to make short low-effort posts if I'm not careful. Lately I've been trying to keep my average at 1 or less posts per day in the hopes that it will lead to higher quality contributions (or at least less non-contributive posts).

This has led to a lot of typing out responses and then deleting them when I see that they wouldn't really contribute anything to the discussion, so I think it's working.

Active new posters seem to be always be over ~15 posts when they start off, so that's not crazy to me. However, anything over like ~25 posts a day is a bit cray. And ~50 posts a day is almost always a sure sign of  troll/sock/whatever.

Is this the average? Because sometimes I'll go a week without posting and then thread-spree overnight.
