I just want to state on the record and for the record that no Atlas poster has ever performed unto me the act described in Mr Yankee's obscene rant.

It's good to see Yankee toning down the profanity some.

A little context.

This came just after he, as Attorney General, was being impeached by a bipartisan coalition led ironically by myself and then Senator Blair, because he was filing false treason charges against myself and Classic Conservative, meanwhile he was engaging in treason himself by endorsing the rebellion of Governor TNF in the Midwest.

It was rather frustrating that despite the warnings of Senator Cris and others based on his troubled history including even a previous rebellion, that he was appointed and confirmed four months prior as AG and the results were unfortunately so predictable.

Yea, so many Atlasian's don't remember TNF and Napoleon or even Adam in his younger days. Much less Hamilton in his original form and all the stuff that used to go down in 2009.

I'd consider pulling my endorsement...

Except I never endorsed him Sad

Perhaps we should discuss some of your posts back in the day, "Crazy Kal". Tongue

I mean, no internet stalking, no customs songs of distaste, no attack videos, no accusations of fascism, baldness or fondness for local dictators, no leaks...

How fast has our nation changed!

Its a paradox. Not having this means that the tactics of people like TNF is not driving people off, but on the other hand Atlasia is more boring than it used to be.

Part of this is because a lot of this stuff that used to be done on the AFE board, people work out of their system on IRC chat rooms.

I guess we'll have to retire personality politics and talk about the issues. Darn.

Its more complex than that though. This implies that there weren't debates about issues during the TNF era, there were in fact plenty and it is hard to admit at times but even Duke acknowledged the role he played in the Senate in driving debates.

We need to find ways to make Atlasia more interesting without getting back to the kind of negativity that used to drive so many people away and was counterproductive in that sense.

The irony is that TNF would say his tactics were all about policy. And indeed he was one of the most policy oriented players in the game. The problem was it was rather extreme as you will recall and his only way of defending it was to paint opponents as being fascist or whatever.

Just my dark sense of humor, Truman, I'm actually glad people are actually talking about the issues and the issues alone (the Atlas "Conservative" Party aside). But comparing the utter drivel some of us had to endure from a few "beloved" players to the current discourse can be quite surprising.

Admittedly, I wasn't around for most of TNF's tenure in the Senate; I registered a month or so before he began his final term, and I didn't really become personally involved in national politics until July - by which point he had abandoned all pretense and embraced the July Anarchy with both arms. I do remember interviewing him about his "militia" when I was still writing for the Mideast Record-Courier, but other than that, we didn't really cross paths.

I've always felt wonkishness was a kind of elitism in this game - it seems a certain kind of a man is apt to confuse intelligence with value, and by extension to conclude that those they perceive as less  intelligent are worthless. That's not to say that thoughtful, thorough legislating ought not to be the ideal towards which we strive, for of course it should be. It has nevertheless been my experience that some of the smartest posters in the game are also the nastiest, and that's true of both the right and the left.

Ah, yes, I remember. I seem to recall being branded a "fascist," a "communist," an "athiest," a "theocrat," and the "second worst senator" (Yankee, of course, being the "worst") at various points last summer - all at the hands of posters I was assured were Atlasian InstitutionsTM. It's really quite amusing with hindsight.

Ironically, it seems we have come full circle. Al's confirmation in early 2015 was justfied, despite his long record as well Al, because "he's a legal expert".

Perhaps the best thing to come of that whole dark episode, is that someone other than me is now making posts like that of yours above. Tongue In that sense, and here we have another paradox, if you have become "Yankee's Pawn" or whatever it was they used to call you, to the extent we share similar views, it is because their actions (their treatment of you) made you see things this way.

TNF probably composed more legislation than any one person in the history of Atlasia in his two years in the Senate. He wholeheartedly believed that his ideology was correct and that everyone else was wrong/corrupt/evil. He was both an extreme socialist/marxist on economics and an extreme libertarian on social issues. Whenever a bill would fail, he would just keep reintroducing it until he got the votes to pass it. It was annoying as PPT because I would try and clear the blacklog of bills by giving him extra slots and he would just reintroduce the same bill that failed immediately after it was voted down, along with five or six more.

In probably the prize winning example of bipartisanship, I managed to wade through the insults and diatribes to construct a bill on cooperatives with him.

We believe that Senator Blair should drop out of the race immediately and that Kingpoleon should replace him at the top of the ticket.
Kingpoleon stands with Senator Bliar.

Speaking as a highly respected elder statesman of atlasia, I must say that this revelation (and there is no other word for it) is deeply disturbing. I say this with deep regret, but it's clear that a vote for Yankee has become unconscionable.
