U.S. Sen. Illinois 2016: Duckworth beats Kirk
U.S. House  IL (10) 2016: Schneider beats Dold

U.S. Sen. Illinois 2018: Kirk runs against Schneider (for his old old seat) and beats him in a very anti-Hillary year

I thought Dold would win pre-video leak, but now I think Dold does go down. I think Kirk will WAY outperform Trump, and will want a rematch against Duckworth in 2022.

I agree with your 2016 predictions, but I doubt Mark Kirk would then want to run for a lower office. I also think Dold would likely challenge Schneider in yet another rematch (similar to the perpetual Guinta- Shea Porter races in NH-01, and Dold would likely be the GOP's candidate in 2018. Maybe Kirk would try for a rematch against Duckworth in 2022, run for Governor at some point, or run for Durbin's seat if he retires / resigns to become Governor

I'm still leery of writing off Kirk considering he was triaged and left for dead in 2006 and 2008 and somehow came back twice; in 2008 Obama won upballot by 23 points -- compare with an Illinois-wide win of 25 points -- and Kirk still won.

So, I don't know what he'll do in the event that he loses to Duckworth, but it'd certainly be a shame to see political talent like that wasted.
