There is no civil war. The GOP base is backing Trump completely.

Who gets to decide who the "base" is?  Why is a Wall Street guy who always votes in GOP primaries and donates to the party but has some culturally liberal views not a part of the base?
The base of the party= those who voted in the primaries, gave the nomination to Trump, and still support the republican.nominee by wide margins

Ryan, though I'm not a fan of him.

I want the GOP to lose the election badly. But I think there should be a common-sense, moderate to conservative Republican Party, which consists responsible and compromise-able figures (like Kasich etc.).

meh, let 'em destroy each other to be honest.  There are establishment Republicans I like, but Ryan isn't one of them.

It was only after "TapeGate" that was put by MSM that the "Civil War" re-ignited. Nobody is gonna care about the tape a few months after now.

Paul Ryan's side, which for all its faults at least doesn't regard politics as mere entertainment.

I'm somewhere in the middle here, and will be trying to encourage my fellow Republicans- both the most ardent Trump supporters and the never-Trumpers to recognize the real enemy come November 9th, and end this stupid and silly fight.

The base of the party is the large majority, 61%, who voted against Trump in the primaries. It continues to be amazing how many people forget that Trump won an FPTP race with a plurality of the vote even as a majority of voters had an unfavorable opinion and didn't want him as the candidate.

Anyway, enthusiastically Paul Ryan's side.

This. Let us not feed their delusions that things will be back to normal after November 8.

You're right -- it must be kept in mind that Trump's primary voters are older, live in high-mortality areas, and will probably be less than a quarter of the party by 2024.

Let them destroy each other. The GOP needs the moderates that I vote for to take control.
