This article is short on actual #analysis.  Yes, it is possible Vermonters could write-in Sanders for President, but how many voters will actually do that?  I suppose Vermont will be Sanders' best state, but I doubt he'll crack 5%.

I am now imagining some group starting an organized write-in campaign for Sanders, and it's one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard.

How would this work, exactly? If a write-in candidate carries a state without having nominated anyone to serve as electors on their behalf, what happens?

It wouldn't because none of the votes would actually count because Bernie doesn't have write in status

It's more likely that Bernie gets votes from faithless electors.

The article seems to suggest otherwise.

They actually don't count write-ins in presidential races unless the candidate is a "qualified write-in" i.e. actively seeking votes and having registered as one (even though this rule makes no sense.)

That's not true in Vermont, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Iowa and Oregon, where, according to the article, they count all write-ins without a need to become a qualified write-in candidate.

The article is good at pointing out how the write-in rules work in various states.  It's very bad at justifying its headline, which is the title of the post.
