He almost was mayor in 2005 and 2013. He could have beaten Bloomberg in 2005 despite Bloomberg's $$ and ads. He had NYC outerborough appeal (outside of Manhattan).

True. The sad thing is that Weiner was slick; he made you believe in his ideas when he ran for mayor three times (2005, 2009, and 2013.)
