I say punish whoever did this to the fullest extent possible, because its stupid actions like this that plays right into the hands of Trumpists and their reactionary victim complex. Wouldn't surprise me if this hands the state to Trump.
Why not punish them to the foolish extent possible simply because they broke the law and destroyed another's property? because they couldve killed someone? Not because it doesnt help a particular political advancement...

This came from my outrage that the Dems are willing to stoop to Trumpist levels which undermines the entire message of their campaign. Honestly I'm ready to wash my hands of this election and this country as a whole, if I had the money I'd get out as soon as possible and just watch the country eat itself alive as it's already started doing.

The firebombing in North Carolina is merely a logical result of the political climate Donald Trump and and the like helped to create. What goes around, comes around. Denying any responsibility for it makes them hypocrites.

The big story here is him saying animals.

Agreed. What a vile racist piece of garbage he is.

I despise Trump, but what part of that was racist? "Animals" is used within a derogatory term to refer to criminals. It is not a racially loaded word.

I think it is racially loaded. Especially in a Southern context.

FWIW, I'm a Southerner and didn't see a racial context in its usage.

Maybe I was unclear but if you refer to Clinton supporters in the South as animals I think that's a dog-whistle.

Democrats made it clear this is not what they're about - they raised more than $13,000 in the last 13 hours to help get a new North Carolina Republican HQ.

Where was Donald Trump when he could be helping like this???

Yeah, I agree with this. Let's not politicize this- we should be appalled that this happened, and we should all hope for justice to be served.

So Trump is jumping to conclusions before the arson investigators do.

I think Trump has a new job if he loses.

Lol. Probably. I was thinking he was going to be an arson investigator himself.

Too busy groping campaign staffers and snorting coke so he could rant on twitter at 4am?

That why we need just days more instead of years more of this.

You really showed me the liberal enlightened nature of the White Southerner with that comment. I stand corrected.

...that wasn't really my point. I'm just noting that in the South a Democrat today is much more likely to be black than in the rest of the US, so referring to Democrats as animals I think takes on a racial undertone there in a way it wouldn't if this had happened in Vermont.

And you've really shown all of us how politically and culturally literate the liberal academia really is. My tiny Southern brain 'ppreciates it very very much. Hyuck hyuck.

I'm surprised there hasn't even been any rumors about who carried out the attack.
