Is there any chance the Democrats remove the filibuster for justices?

John McCain and Pat Toomey really need to be sacked this November and as Donald Trump would say: "You're fiyad!"

McCain needs to finally go home.

If they win the Senate, I think it's almost a definite yes.

What happened to "let the next president decide"?

I have always supported a policy of a complete stop on confirming any liberal judges to any position.

We get it, you're Extreme.

Because he thinks that only Republicans have the right to govern the country.

By tradition, SCOTUS nominees are not subject to filibuster. Of course, these days, traditions are readily abandoned if deemed sufficient politically advantageous or ideologically desirable.

It's worth reminding people that McCain was a prominent member of the Gang of 14, formed specifically to disallow obstruction on Bush's judicial nominees.

As an FYI, Merrick Garland was confirmed 76-23 last time he was nominated to a federal court.  So it's not as though his 'qualifications' are the problem here.  Anyone who thinks this isn't blatant abuse of Senate power is either stupid or a complete hack.

Definitely a step too far. I honestly couldn't care less about Obama being denied his third judge, especially since he voted down both of Bush's nominees for explicitly partisan reasons. This is over the line.

And now McCain is running like hell away from this comment. Sad!

Absurd and hypocritical. Now they want to leave the Supreme Court vacancy for at least 5 years.

That is quite encouraging.  People forget that the Senate has equal say as the president.  Let's frame it as Hillary not nominating anyone acceptable to 60 Senators.

McCain didn't say to nominate someone with bipartisan appeal, he said not to confirm ANYONE appointed by a Democrat. I believe in checks and balances, but the GOP is abusing this privilege.

Good.

Nowhere does it say that the Senate has to find a non-ideological reason to reject a nominee.

I understand not confirming a nominee who is ideologically extreme, but rejecting everyone who is left of center is absurd.

He doesn't really care about that. He appears to be more of a "achieve partisan goals using any and all methods possible"-type of a person, regardless of how absurd or unfair it is.

This is the kind of thinking that is ruining Congress and other lower governing bodies.
