Where is Labor? Don't the working People deserve their Christmas, too? This should not be a partisan issue!

The federal government should not privilege one religious celebration over another. Perhaps December 25th would instead be an appropriate time to recognize Homosexual Love with a new civic holiday.

What has happened to you?! Tongue

Christmas remains the most widely observed holiday in the country according to virtually every survey done on the issue; the proportion of those observing the holiday considerably exceeds the proportion of Christians. Its status thus cannot be attributed to any kind of religious discrimination-- although the "need" to ban religious holidays does not exist, anyway. This is not the Soviet Union, for goodness' sake.

D*mn right they do. Hence:

No. Christmas and Hanukkah should both exist, and if you want to abolish both, go to hell.

"I have always thought of Christmastime, when it has come 'round, as a good time: a kind, charitable, forgiving time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely. And for that reason... I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good, and I say God bless it!"

Nope. Your feeble Cromwellian attempt to abolish Christmas. I'm very pro Christmas 🎄 and the Jewish holiday celebrated around the same time called Chanukah 🕎
Um, you know Cromwell was a Puritan, right? I don't think he was exactly in favor of the separation of church and state.

I know he was a Puritan. He advocated for and successfully put a ban on Christmas while he ruled Britain. Since that's what this group is trying to do the shoe fits.

Yeah, the Puritans felt that turning religious days into celebrations was inappropriate IIRC.

So Cromwell might would've agreed with Ebowed, but for very different reasons. Tongue

Exactly. I think they should be celebrations used to get the message of the faith out and to do good for others.

The commercialization of Christmas is exemplified by this premature greeting.  We should really be focusing on Halloween right now.
