If Hillary wins, who would she pick to be the Secretary of State?

Apparently Bloomberg was interested but that doesn't seem to be happening according to wikileaks

Barack Obama would be a good choice.

Nah... though I hope she nominates him for chief justice next time a vacancy pops up.

Of the ones listed there, I like Nick Burns, James Stavridis, Ben Rhodes, and William Joseph Burns. W. Stuart Symington, IV, or Mike McFaul are probably my favorite dark horse possibilities.

What about Bill? Or is he too tainted now for a cabinet position?

He'll be busy as First Laddie..

I sure hope he doesn't embarrass HRC again.

Didn't I already post? Anyway, I'll go with Richard Holbrooke as still being in the lead despite the obvious challenge he'd face. Failing him, maybe Gary Locke?

He wouldn't have to renominated though, no?

Susan Rice, obvious choice.

And yes, this subject has been discussed recently.

If she's even remotely intelligent, she'd keep Kerry on for as long as she can.

I assuming that the obvious challenge is Holbrooke being, well, you know, dead?

Some Worthless Globalist.  I'm betting on Wendy Sherman, but we'll see.

I'm in favor of a full reassessment of all of our alliances on a cost-benefit basis.  John Foster Dulles proposed this to Eisenhower; he was right, and it is long overdue.

The "obvious challenge" for Holbrooke being that he is dead?

I think that choosing a Republican here would be a good sign (Huntsman?), but I suspect it will be somebody like Sherman.

In terms of who it will most likely be, I agree that Wendy Sherman is probably the front-runner. I have a feeling the position won't be filled by a well known politician like the people pining for Al Gore or something.

I'd love to see Kerry stay on. He's done a surprisingly good job. Who knows who she'll actually pick, though. Very likely someone not mentioned here, as someone else alluded to.

Actually since he taught Constitutional Law, maybe just maybe we'd get some constructionism out of him.

This may be off topic but I really like your signature; very vintage. Wink
