We know Trump is claiming it's rigged because he can't stand to lose. What if Trump says "The whole thing is rigged, I'm out". How do his supporters react? The GOP?

I wake up?

Trump isn't going to drop out / boycott.  He'll probably be claiming victory on the morning of the 8th, and when Clinton clinches, make a speech about how his numbers "looked really, really good," the exit polls "said I should have won," and go on about "irregularities" across the country.  He'll concede, but not before throwing gasoline on the fire he started.

I expect Clinton will win, and before too long trumps presidential campaign will become a footnote in history, like Romney, and mccain, and kerry,  and gore, and dole, and so on

I agree that nothing will happen.
But I think Trump's campaign will be written about and discussed in political circles for decades.  The fact that he won the nomination is still mindblowing.

Trump's nomination will go down in history as the single greatest act of political suicide by a major party since the democrats split over slavery in 1860. The magnitude of its folly and disgrace is hard to fathom.

He'll go on and on about "This is all rigged" and "Something very Crooked is going on!" over and over.    Anything to deflect the failure away from him.

His supporters, of course, will eat it all up and believe him unquestioningly.

And for our sanity's sake, it can't come too soon.

More like Sarah Palin.  Should be a footnote, except you can never get her to go away.

Someone else will pick up the mantle for all the Palin/TP/Trump followers, though.  And if it's someone with charisma, charm, and command of the issues, be very afraid.

Trump has way too big of an ego to drop out. Because he knows he would be mocked mercilessly

No, Trump will go down in history like William Jennings Bryan.

Why did the Democrats nominate that guy over and over again? He kept losing elections like Martha Coakley.

He's a kid.  He has another couple of years to grow into the role of populist pied-piper lunatic.

Because the silver wing of the party was slightly bigger and more powerful than the Southern Democrats and the Northern urban-political-machine Democrats.
