I will unfortunately have to object. I do not think the original text goes far enough.

An objection has been made, a 48 hour vote now opens on the Amendment proposed by Senator Blair, seen above.

The amendment vote ends in a 2-2 tie, with 1 not voting. I will now ask Vice President Lumine to break the tie.

I break the tie in favor of the amendment.

I'm all for reasonable reduction of nuclear stockpiles, but I won't support openly calling on the UK and France to suddenly eliminate their nuclear arsenals while weakening NATO.

I echo the words of Vice President Lumine; I don't think it's right that we should tell our NATO allies who've held independent nuclear weapons since the 50's to give up their weapons.

Despite my amendment there should be changes to the weapon sharing program- namely us having 50 in Turkey (which was shown as being extremely dangerous this summer during the coup)

I have concerns with not asking other countries to reduce their stockpiles. If we can get the other countries on board, I would be perfectly fine asking all the other countries to reduce theirs in exchange for us reducing ours even more.

I was hoping to wait for everyone to get into the senate before voting but I think the 48 window should cover it. I open up a 48 hour final vote on this bill, Senators will have 48 hours to vote AYE, NAY, or ABSTAIN. If this passes, it will go onto the President for his final decision.

Why should we give up the most while there could be reliable intelligence that Russia will not decommission even one? I'm all for reducing the number of nuclear weapons but until Russia reduces to an equitable amount I'm leery of this treaty. Plus we have to figure alternate ways to utilize said destructive items for peaceful purposes in all nations should they choose a route of peace.

This bill passes with 5 voting AYE and 1 not voting. Given that the bill passed by the House has been amended by the Senate, this bill now returns back to the House for their decision.
