Kellyanne is actually insane if she thinks that the polls will tighten.

Insanity and self-loathing are the only possible reasons why any woman is still working for rapist Drumpf.

And the sample size?

Just stop. You've been a good little solider.

Well, first of all, that's not the debate winner, and it's not just among decideds.  It's the gun-to-your-head question ("if you had to choose") about who they support, not who won the debate.

Don't get too excited about those numbers, either.  It's a n=1503 poll, so that means the undecided/third-party sample is 120.  The margin of error on 120 people in a national poll is +/-9%.  Because the MoE applies to both candidate values, the margin of error on the percentage margin is +-/-18%.  Trump is barely up on that question beyond the margin of error, and seems to have a lot of potential soft supporters in this poll.  However, note that the race was Clinton +4 in both the pre-debate and post-debate samples.  So, as good news goes, this is pretty weak.

This poll shows unenthusiastic potential for Trump, which is one of his better results lately, but I wouldn't get too excited about it...and the poll showed the same potential before the debate, so we know the baseline here might be a bit too Trump-friendly.  This is what passes as good news for Trump these days, but only because the pickings are slim.

Anybody still 'Undecided' at this point was going to vote for Trump no matter what. McCain won the Last Three Days and Last week who were closet republicans but always intended to vote for the Republican candidate.

That is false. The question was "if you had to choose who to vote for, who would it be?" There's already been a lot of discussion on this board about how, at this point, "undecideds" are probably mostly conservatives/Republicans, so this result is not surprising.

Well, Trump came across as somewhat less nutter this time than in the last two rounds, and I am not sure Trump's refusal to conclude now that the election process will be fair is that big a deal, but overall I think Clinton succeeded well in reminding voters that she is a far less risky choice than Trump is. And beyond all of Trump's horrible policy positions, or lack of any coherent policy position at all, and seemingly just throwing sh*t against the wall, and hoping some of it sticks, that is precisely the point, isn't it?

Two Shocking takeaways from debate, one from each candidate:

Trump - Won't say if he will accept results of election.

Clinton - When pressed by Trump she and the DNC were behind attacks at Trump rallies she didn't even have a good response to deny it.

All in all Trumps best debate, but it was pretty even which is a win for Clinton.

She ignored it which is different from not having a response. O'keefe's videos dont implicate her and didnt merit any comment.

I agree that her dodging the question didn't help her case but continuing to defend herself probably would have led her more vulnerable to his attacks. She diverted and counterattacked instead and it probably was the safer choice for her. The average audience in the end mostly remembers the flow of the debate and not the specifics.

On the other hand, Trump saying "keep in suspense" won't help his image either, though we'll see the polls to verify. He performed better in 2nd debate imo.

O'Keefe's nasty "whistleblower" crap doesn't warrant a response. Hope she sics the FBI on him and his spies and puts them away for a long long time.

Just really sad one of these two clowns will be our next president. How on earth did we get to this point?

So tired of hearing this.  Hillary Clinton isn't a clown and she's miles above Trump's level.

We can blame the south and the tea party/far right types for Trump. Heck, I also blame talk radio/most conservative talk shows for fooling people into a frothing mad mass of hate.

She's not a clown, but she's one of the most corrupt and dishonest candidates to ever run for President. And saying she's better than Trump means nothing,  even bringing Dubya back for 4 years would be better than having Trump.

This.

I wonder if Trump's unpopularity has been impacting Clinton's favorables. People hear the latest ridiculous thing Trump's done and think "Oh, that's bad, they're both so terrible", and cling to that idea even as the things Trump do get more and more outrageous. I don't think Clinton would be so far down the favorability hole if she were running against someone like Jeb.

You can blame the entire electoral strategy of the GOP since at least 1976.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/19/politics/hillary-clinton-wins-third-presidential-debate-according-to-cnn-orc-poll/index.html

"White voters who hold college degrees said Clinton won by a 58% to 33% margin, while those who do not have a four-year degree say Trump won by a 48% to 41% margin."

Stark contrast between education level.

it baffles me that an "anti-free-trade"-candidate (whetever this means) just has to scream about injustice and fraud, without ever giving any specifics or detailed plans and gets the approval from a small majority of formally uneducated voters.

are those people desperate or cynical?

A comparison of the CNN flash poll results since 2000. Clinton the biggest combined winner in the set.
