That he has a particular point of view in his pieces is irrelevant.

no, it is not.

if you are a columnist or an editorializer, it's okay...and even good to show where you are coming from.

he is more like michael moore or dinesh d'souza..... creating movies through investigative techniques and then using the material in an enteraining way, fitting your narrative, without transparency or a chance for a re-check.

it's political activism and it's all right...we just shouldn't swallow it without critical questions.

Well, you shouldn't swallow ANYTHING without critical questions.

Michael Moore and Dinesh D'Souza are as much journalists under the First Amendment as O'Keefe and others.  That they have a political point of view is irrelevant.

Exposing the unwanted truth lurking behind the scenes is the epitome of investigative journalism.  And both are protected by the First Amendment.

ofc only if you don't break federal/state laws of any kind.

there are some additional layers of freedom for journalists but O'Keefe usually oversteps all such boundaries.

if that's your point of view then i won't disagree. seems inclusive enough.

Yeah, that First Amendment is horrible.  We should abolish it!  Darn journalists!

o'keefe is not a journalist, he is an activist.

and ofc he walks a subtle line regarding breaking the law...but this is not for me to decide.

O'Keefe is a citizen journalist, doing the types of jobs 60 Minutes and other TV news magazines used to do more often.  That he has a particular point of view in his pieces is irrelevant.  So did 60 Minutes when they used to do hidden camera journalism more often than they do now.

All journalists are citizens somewhere, but not just anyone can be a journalist. To be a journalist you actually do legitimate reporting and writing, not just sending out tweets and posting videos. The fact that you would compare this person to 60 Minutes is just plain dumb.

Sorry.  Just because you disagree with a citizen journalist's point of view doesn't make them anything less of a journalist.  There is no meaningful difference between a hidden camera sting on your sleazy local used car dealer or a sleazy political figure.  Exposing the unwanted truth lurking behind the scenes is the epitome of investigative journalism.  And both are protected by the First Amendment.

You can't break the law doing investigative journalism. What O'Keefe does is not journalism, anyway, it's political stunts.

in fact you - more or less - can "break" some laws if you are a journalist, if it's out of "public interest" and "for the greater good", but those standards got even more narrow since watergate and it clearly weren't good enough for snowden, not even speaking of partisan before-election interference like O'Keefe's line of work.

This is probably Julian Assange now that the Ecuadorians have cut off his Internet:

I find it off that folks who are demanding Trump's Tax Returns, etc. are so bent out of shape about WikiLeaks.

Are they breaking the law?  Yes, they are.  So was the guy who recorded Mitt Romney without his knowledge, and none of the Democrats here were bent out of shape on that one.

Hillary Milhous Clinton is the Nixon of 2016.  Only this time, we get to hear the tapes BEFORE we vote.  Yay, us!

How though? Outside of giving us access to John Podesta's email address, I cant think of any type of proof.

maybe some great quotes from both brazile and kaine.....Wink won't prove anything anyway.

Or if the hack is ongoing, e-mails from Brazile and Kaine discussing how the e-mails leaked so far are real.  But I don't think the hack is ongoing - or that they'd be stupid enough to e-mail something like that now.
Dumbass Podesta didn't change his password and /pol/ hacked -- at minimum -- his Twitter account about a week ago. Nothing would shock me here.

it's the same as if you are running for mayor in a small village and some people broke into your house and stole your school diaries.

every day between then and the election day, some not very harming and surely not criminal but embrarassing details about your teenagehood is going to be published all over your village, going to make you look - on the long run - like a "loser"/weirdo, cause everybody is able to compare your own private thoughts with the shop-window lies of everyone else.

leaking hillary's wall street speeches is at least partially comparable to the "47%"-speech.

leaking bickering, arguing and complaining each day for weeks is not in any way useful to anyone....and just a desperate attack to change this election with gossip.

They're spiraling into babbling desperate nonsense as fast as Donald is now that it's becoming clear that they've lost and Putin will lock them all up for failing in their Russian infiltration job.

I've changed my mind. Wikileaks is in Clinton's tank. Why else would they disenfranchise so many Trump voters like this?

Still disgusting tho

i think a tweet like that could be used by a clever campaign to crush WIKILEAKS in terms of PR and make republicans disavow them too....but i am not sure, team hillary cares enough for them.

Their Twitter feed looks like an extension of the Trump campaign. That's pretty ridiculous. They are not even trying to hide their motives.

My how far they have fallen. "Open government" my ass. They now exist as a vehicle for foreign espionage and feud-settling for lil' Assange.

So... more confirmation...

a) they don't have anything on Clinton
b) they're definitely basically just a funnel for Russian hacks

I know that I use this reference a lot, but I'll do it again:

You were the chosen one, Julian! It was said that you would expose the propaganda machines, not join them! Bring transparency to all political operations, not become a partisan hack!

crazy theory:

assange wanted to get someone different in the white house, who would ...maybe...be grateful to WL and stop the possible warrant.
