We have a thread about naming the US states. But what about our transatlantic counterpart?
How proficient are you in European geography?

I only read the first option and therefore voted for it.

I should have voted for the second option, though.

TBH, I couldn't. I can't distinguish the Baltic and the Balkan countries.

Most of them.  It gets harder to remember European countries the more south you go.

Yes, and their capitals, assuming I'm remembering correctly that the capital of Slovenia is called Ljubljana.

I'm not sure where Italy is on the map.  I think it's next to Finland.

This, and all the capitals too (European, normal), but not the number of EP seats by country, though I'd be able to make a pretty close estimate for all of them.

I remember in 5th grade as a test, we were given a blank map of Europe with just the country outlines, and would get one point for each geographical feature we correctly wrote in, in the right place, including. e.g.,  countries, cities, seas, bays, counties, mountain ranges, oceans and rivers. It was probably relatively speaking the best test score I got in my life. I had around 160 points, and the next best score was 91. I had an interest in drawing maps of the UK, so in part it was due to writing in a host of cites therein, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Liverpool, and so forth. I remember getting a few of counties too, Cornwall, Devon and Kent. And there are a ton of seas in the Mediterranean one can fill in. And oh yes, the islands, lots of islands! Gosh I love those islands! Smiley

I had trouble even finding 28 countries on that map. Cheesy

It's tricky, but even if one surmounts that, one will only get to 27, because the map is inaccurate, and fails to put in blue one particular EU member. Smiley

Isn't the blue dot below Sicily a country?

Yeah, and that is included in the 27. But the blue is lacking elsewhere where it should be.

Oh, I used an obsolete map? See, I'm not obviously not proficient in European geography. Tongue
But I found a better one.

Off the top of my head, # of seats in the lower house of the national parliaments.

France 577
UK 650
Italy 630
Spain 350
Sweden 349
Denmark 179
Netherlands 150
Greece 150
Ireland 150 (right?)
Norway 169 (right?)
Malta 65+
Germany around 600 (depending on overhang mandates)
Portugal... 230?
Finland has around 200 too, I think
I think Poland has around 400

Not sure about the others.
