Yep, the same Blanche Lincoln that was turfed out of the senate six years ago by a YUGE margin. Also vetting Hickenlooper and Beshear among others: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/donald-trump-like-to-deny-things-230165

Vilsack actually hasn't been too bad. I'd rather see another midwesterner though.

I think after 8 years he'll just want to go back to Iowa and relax.

Isn't Vilsack rumored to be one of the finalists to be Hillary's first White House Chief of Staff?

Worthiness aside, seems like a pretty safe pick.

She isn't that bad of a pick.  She was the leader of the Senate Agi Committee in the Senate.  She isn't doing too much now anyways.  Would also help if she wants a balanced cabinet of men and women.

Why the hell would someone from Iowa head Interior?

Does Iowa even have any national parks?

Yep, the same Blanche Lincoln that was turfed out of the senate six years ago by a YUGE margin.

Can't be any more embarrassing than when Bush made the guy who just lost his Senate seat to a dead guy his first AG.

John Ashcroft is one of those people who really fell off the face of the earth after he left the Bush Administration. I don't recall him ever publishing a book or endorsing any candidates or anything. I just looked on Wikipedia to see if he was still alive (he is).

His son lost a race for a State Senate seat in St. Louis County in 2014 and is running for Secretary of State this year.

That's actually a pretty solid pick, and I'd guess that they know each other well from their Arkansas background.

If it were me, I'd maybe suggest borrowing a page from Eisenhower and looking to ecumenical church organizations for a cabinet pick of their nature. Dave Beckmann from Bread for the World, for example, is an economics Ph.D. with probably more experience than anyone alive in what should be the Dept. of Agriculture's chief priority- making sure hungry people are fed.

The Dept of Agriculture has morphed a bit under Vilsack, kind of Dept of Rural Affairs

It's not just about farmers anymore

According to script writers of the X Files it does. Anyone else remember the episode that took place in Okiboji National Park in Northern Iowa. Big Redwoods, snow capped mountains. It was a hoot.

It's one of the most unimaginative picks I could envision.

Then again, I don't expect imaginative picks from Hillary.  Although, all things considered, that might be better than exotic alternatives.

Unless Clinton engages in extreme vetting, I wouldn't take this rumor too seriously Cheesy
