Agree with Tom McClintock on everything except 61 - I have no problem with imposing a price control on a government agency.

I like how much of a joke California has turned its initiatives into, lmao. I'm pretty sure that condom one is the perennial obsession of some oddball with more cash than sense, a good few of them contradict each other (which makes me feel they're only in there to baffle voters).

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I fall against this McClintock fellow on most of them, who seems to be a deranged nazi like all congressional republicans. Sad!

Oh, I probably oppose that tobacco tax one, because it's basically lazy politicking, but I don't really care.

Also, it's pretty funny how badly Prop53 would destroy the economy.

Generally no, but yes on 54, quasi-yes on 55 as I think it really ought to be up to the California legislature to decide general tax rates, but California's dysfunctional system makes that impossible and I think it seems to be needed to provide the services California's voters want their government to provide, yes on 57, yes on 58, yes on 62, and yes on 64.

(Part one: Propositions 51–60. I'll try and look through the rest later. Who the hell has seventeen ballot measures in one year? Come on, California.)

Prop. 51: No
Prop. 52: No
Prop. 53: No*
Prop. 54: Yes
Prop. 55: Yes*
Prop. 56: No
Prop. 57: Yes
Prop. 58: No*
Prop. 59: Yes
Prop. 60: No (Can I just say that this proposition is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of in my life? As the McClintock post quoted in the OP says, this is a classic example of the "public nannies" phenomenon.)

An asterisk denotes that I did not come down on a firm stance after browsing the California voter guide, and therefore am just going with my gut.

*This is a good idea in theory, but requiring a statewide vote on local bonds is completely unnecessary.

**Although I oppose the death penalty and support this in theory, I believe that Prop 66 is a more mainstream solution.  At this point, reforming the death penalty seems better to me than repeal.

†I support background checks for gun purchases, but if someone has already passed the background check for the gun, then they shouldn't have to go through another to buy ammunition.

‡Plastic shopping bags are completely reusable and recyclable, and in fact are frequently reused by many people, myself included.  Prop 65 seems like a much more reasonable measure here.
