Trump is certainly no Harry Truman (thus, why I think Trump will lose), but I could buy some level of arguement for comparing Clinton to Thomas Dewey - ran for President several times, despite each campaign having seemingly little purpose or direction in the public eye. Both were solid debaters - Dewey's "you can't kill an idea with a gun" quite literally killed Harold Stassen's career forever, and Clinton demolished Trump every time they met.
