Are we sure there will even be an election? The other would probably just be the vice president

If I won , I would offer him a position in my cabinet and would give him a pretty important role to (either at Commerce or maybe even State)

Also I can assure you the campaign would be vigorous , and at times get heated too , As we do have many disagreements on economic policy for example , on healthcare he’s probably to the left of me as well. The campaign would not get personal though as we both have a strong belief that campaigns should have vigorous, and maybe heated debate over policy but without using personal attacks, straw man attacks and sound bite attacks .

So for example I would go after him on his assertions that repealing the 2017 tax bill Would be good for the economy  and explain why the tax bill helped the economy grow and press him on the fact that raising corporate taxes would result in them passing of costs to the customers and how it would make us uncompetitive globally(as I beleive). He would also probably go after me saying how Removing the SALT deduction was unfair and why he thinks it was bad for the budget And then he would explain why he thinks  raising corporate taxes does not negatively impact economic growth(as he believes) .

What I wouldn’t do is call him a socialist for raising taxes and what I am confident he wouldn’t do is call me someone who only cares about the rich because I oppose raising taxes . We would debate our plans fully on the merits

So basically it would be a John Kasich vs Joe Biden election

Unless there is an emergency calling for a unity ticket, I'd pick a Democratic running mate. The shortlist would most likely include АndriуValeriovich, General MacArthur, Parrotguy, Oregon Blue Dog and here2view. I'd offer OSR a cabinet post though, probably State or Defense.

Who would win? I think it would depend on what year, but neither would win or lose by a huge margin. I assume the campaign would be one of the most civilized in US history and be only about issues.

I'd say there are three possible outcomes:

Neutral year

President Johnson (D-DE)/АndriуValeriovich (D-UA): 268 EV. (49.07%)
Old School Republican (R-OR)/Fuzzy Bear (R-FL): 249 EV. (48.91%)
Pure tossup: 21 EV.

Republican year

✓ Old School Republican (R-OR)/Fuzzy Bear (R-FL): 300 EV. (50.85%)
President Johnson (D-DE)/АndriуValeriovich (D-UA): 238 EV. (47.77%)

Democratic year

✓ President Johnson (D-DE)/АndriуValeriovich (D-UA): 335 EV. (51.75%)
Old School Republican (R-OR)/Fuzzy Bear (R-FL): 203 EV. (47.02%)

I think I would win AZ in a neutral year and I think the election would come down to WI which would be razor-thin and would go either way.

I think your strategy of winning without WI would be actually to take NC not AZ and mine would have to be to win PA(which would be unlikely though without winning WI).

They're both great guys.  I disagree with each of them equally as much, but on different issues.  I'm more economically liberal than OSR, but I'm more socially conservative than President Johnson.

In real life, I would base my vote on whether or not the nation needed a jolt of economic conservatism at the time of voting, or whether a more liberal economic approach was needed on that day.

President Johnson would win and it wouldn't be especially close. I respect both posters obviously, but I don't think America is even in the ballpark of being ready for an Indian President.

Both are good posters. I would vote for President Johnson despite our disagreements, often the same disagreements I have with OSR. I would likely vote for someone else in the primary, and depending on the presidency i would be open to support a primary bid in 2024. I'd think PJ would be especially good on foreign policy, continuing Obama's policies, be tough on China, and loosening ties with Cuba, recognizing Armenian genocide, supporting the Kurds. I'm however more concerned about domestic policy, esp. on trade and income inequality.

So the exact same situation i have with Biden. I feel like OSR would be too hawkish as well. I'm a non-interventionist and we have very different views on trade, economy and income inequality. But he would be more reasonable on climate change than most of the GOP nowadays, while President Johnson would likely institute effective measures.

For how America votes, this feels like a Haley vs Macron match-up. I think both would be perceived as insiders, and I believe we might have the potential for a successful third party run like Perot.
