PART ONE
1701: Prince George, the future king of England, has a son. In OTL, this son was named Fredrick and died in 1751. In TTL, the son is named Charles. This creates little butterfly effects.
1738: Prince Charles’s wife, Augusta, gives birth to a son, James.
1760: King George II dies, and is succeeded by his son, Charles. Charles is crowned King Charles III of England.
1765: The Colony of Nova Scotia is split into the Colony of Nova Scotia and the Colony of New Brunswick. This infuriates the Nova Scotians.
1769: The Colony of New Brunswick goes bankrupt, upsetting the population of New Brunswick.
Britain takes the island of Long Island and areas around it and form the Colony of Long Island.
1770: Rioters in Boston are shot by British soldiers stationed there. This incident almost sparks a revolution in the colonies.
1773: To protest unfair British taxes, the American colonists destroy major shipments of British tea in Boston Harbor.
1774: The First Continental Congress is held in Philadelphia to discuss the British rule over North America.
Nova Scotia and New Brunswick both send representatives to the Continental Congress, throwing their support along with the other 14 colonies.
1775: After King Charles III refuses the Albany Plan and imposes more punishment on American colonists, the 16 colonies (the original thirteen plus Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Long Island).
The Battles of Lexington and Concorde set off the American Revolution.
1776: The Declaration of Independence is signed in Philadelphia between 16 colonies.
Long Island is captured by American forces. General George Washington captures Trenton, New Jersey from the Hessians.
1777: General Benedict Arnold invades Quebec. The Quebecois stage a revolt against the British in southern Quebec. A blue-red-white tricolor is adopted as the American flag.
At Boston, the Americans captured a warehouse holding 2,500 of the new breech-loading Ferguson rifle. General Washington realizes its potential, and orders construction of it. He utilizes the Ferguson musket and cavalry for fast raids.
1778: Montreal is taken by General Arnold. Morale of British soldiers drops greatly after this, and after they American cavalry firing 8 to 9 rounds a minute.
The French become allies of the Colonists, landing a force of 10,000 in Connecticut to reinforce the American force already there.
1779: Major Patrick Ferguson of the Royal Army defects to the American side, and helps in the production of Ferguson rifles. He also designs a package that will convert existing muskets or rifles into breech-loaders like the Ferguson.
Savannah is taken by the British. In response, Benedict Arnold seizes Ottawa.
1780: Charleston is taken by the British, but is retaken from them a month later. General Arnold continues in Canada, and captures York, which he promptly renames Toronto. Savannah is retaken by American forces armed with Ferguson rifles.
1781: Cornwallis is defeated by a combined American-French Army at Yorktown, ending the First Anglo-American War.
The Articles of Confederation are signed in October.
1782: The Treaty of Paris is signed. Southern Quebec and Ontario will be seeded to the United States, and Florida will remain a dominion of England, though East Florida will be ceded to Spain.
1783: The British evacuate New York under the conditions of the Treaty of Paris. Montreal and Ottawa sign the Articles of Confederation.
1785: King Charles III of England dies, and is replaced by his son, James. James is crowned King James III of England.
Colonel Ferguson discovers the Puckle Gun, a flintlock multi-barreled gun. He works on it off-and-on for the next few years.
1786: Shay’s Rebellion on Massachusetts fails. Seeing the failure of the Articles of Confederation, the18 states send representatives to Philadelphia for a Constitutional Convention.
1787: The Constitution is signed in Philadelphia, which is the same as OTL, except that militias are replaced by national guards.
Western Pennsylvania forms the Territory of Erie; and western Virginia forms the Territory of Vandalia.
1788: Montreal becomes eleventh state to ratify the Constitution, making is legal now.
George Washington becomes the nation’s first president, with Benedict Arnold as his vice-president.
1789: The Territory of Franklin is created in eastern Tennessee. George Washington is inaugurated as President.
1790: Vermont (free) is admitted to the Union.
The Territory of Cumberland (western Tennessee and Kentucky) is formed.
