I am interested primarily in how people who answer "No" to this question justify themselves morally.

Yes (D). The United States is a nation of immigrants and I want it to stay that way. Our continuing prosperity as a nation is dependent upon that principle. First world countries with low birth rates and strict immigration policies are going to suffer and face severely reduced political power on the global stage.

No (D), this is a horrific idea, that would hurt workers the most, and dis-advantaged urban areas. We can see this happening in the UK and other countries. A nation with multicultural, and multi-ethnic vibrancy can only work in the confines of controlled immigration, immigration to deal with the country's needs, and immigrants that contribute to society

A nation-state is an important aspect, but I wouldn't expect white Europeans, who ruined that idea through imperialism and colonialism to understand.

I don't know why this is morally questionable.

No

I want to expand it and don't want to restrict it, but countries should still be able to control their borders.

I don't know, what point you're trying to make, more so due to my stupidity, but anyway.

That's good. We wouldn't want our ideas coming under scrutiny or anything crazy like that.

I thought I already did. What part of what I said do you not get? Restrictive immigration policies have a tendency to result in aging the general population. Japan has very strict immigration laws and the country is aging. Unless they change their immigration laws or somehow drive up the birth rate, they won't be a major power in the next 50 years. They are projected to lose 25% of their current population within the next 35 years.

Really not that much of a problem, if a society has jobs and technology with it. Controlled immigration of students (might) temporarily fix the problem, but a aging population is not inherently bad, sometimes a sign that a society has been successful.

Nope - national sovereignty, national cohesion, foreign workers taking our jobs (odd that this phenomenon is not really discussed in relation to middle class professions, particularly in finance) blah blah blah.

Clearly, in order to solve all the problems in developing or underdeveloped countries, bringing all their people here is the best, and only, way.

No (R) - I think we need a bit more more legal immigration, but certainly not "unlimited".  Even good things should be done in moderation.

That remark about being a liberal at 20 and a conservative at 40 seems relevant here.
