Nah.  I'll come home when this ticket is sent packing after a terrible defeat.

The next ticket will be just as deplorable.  Welcome to the new Republican nightmare.  Fortunately, we have a party that does represent GOP values.  They're called "Democrats."

Would advise against it, considering Pence's home is literally a trash can.

He belongs in a trash can.  I happen to like Indiana.

To be honest, a big portion was just an "anti-Hillary" vote.

Don't buy that.  Hillary adopted a LOT of Sanders' planks, clearly to appease the Democratic base.  Either way, the current Democratic Party is MUCH further to the left than any manifestation of the GOP than we've ever seen, so it hardly "represent(s) GOP values," LOL.

I think Republicans who think the party you will learn its lesson and return to form in 2020 are in for a rough surprise. The primary voters who became Trump's army isn't going away any time soon.

Republicans' favorite defense mechanism is to project their bad ideas, insane delusions, and overwhelming fear of everything onto everybody else.

If a Republican accuses a Democrat of being a "tax and spend" liberal...it's  probably because he's drowning in personal debt because he can't control his spending.

In all fairness, many Sanders votes had more to do with anti-establishment sentiment than anything else.

I lol when Republicans pretend to be deficit hawks.  There are a few, but they'll never get a whiff of power.

Adam Smith and Keynesian economics are American political orthodoxy.  I'm ok with that.

And 55% voted for a non socialist. Meanwhile, your party nominated Donald Trump.

Either they leave, or I leave, and I plan on doing whatever I can to ensure it's the former. The anti-Trump portion represents a disproportionate amount of wealth compared to the Deplorables. I'm sure we will be using this to our advantage when people who supported Trump in the primary run for reelection.

Step into the light my friend.  Your party needs you!  You know you want to.  It will feel so good to cast that vote for the party of Lincoln.

Lincoln would have voted Clinton this time.
Errrr, the protectionist would not have.

Very few congressmen/Senators actually endorsed Trump in the primary, so I don't see how this is going to be an issue.  The bigger problem is ensuring that we get a better nominee in 2020.

I think Republicans who think the party you will learn its lesson and return to form in 2020 are in for a rough surprise. The primary voters who became Trump's army isn't going away any time soon.

I'm not sure parties ever "learn their lesson" in the primary era.  Even in the prototypical "parties learn their lesson" example of the Dems in 1992, Clinton's nomination seemed more like a consequence of 1) Clinton was really talented, running against a weak field, 2) Clinton was the only Southerner running under a primary calendar that favored the South, and 3) There was no Jesse Jackson running that year, so Clinton was able to attract both white and black votes in the South (and black votes in other regions as well).

So no, the GOP primary electorate isn't going to learn its lesson.  But that doesn't mean that they're going to nominate another Trump in 2020.  Trump won a plurality victory this time, and it's not clear that there'll be another Trump-like candidate running in 2020, or maybe there'll be several and they'll split the "Trump vote" just like the "establishment" vote split this time.  It's also possible that several of the more mainstream candidates try to co-opt Trumpism on certain issues like trade, thus diluting any advantage that would otherwise be conferred to a more "pure" Trump-ist candidate.

So sure, the voters won't learn anything, but despite not learning anything they still might nominate a Pence or a Rubio or a Ryan in 2020.  Now maybe there are folks who consider all of them as bad as Trump, but I don't think there are going to be #NeverRubio defections of the kind that are being discussed in this thread for Trump.

So did Trump's voters, yet you all treat it as gospel truth that the GOP is permanently Trumpist.

I can't imagine how much less fun you'd all have in a Democratic Party who stuck to liberalism's roots of rejecting elitism.

Indiana is no trash can guys. However, I may be registered GOP in NC but my IN values require me to vote against both horrible options. Sorry Gov Pence I can't vote for Trump for President. I'll still vote for you for VP though.

This is why I'm no longer a Democrat.

While I have voted for Democrats in the past, I have not registered as a Democrat since 1994.  It is no longer possible for a pro-life Democrat with socially conservative views who advocates a more liberal economic agenda than the GOP.  Not even in the South.

I'm not one to say that folks who are long-term Republicans "don't belong there".  I do think, however, that this campaign has brought out a large swath of Republicans who advocate protectionism and an end to Neocon adventurism in foreign affairs.  I've come to see that in many ways, the Republicans I disagree with are more reasonable than the bulk of Democrats these days.

I suspect that a lot of the Sanders Democrats in the reddest of states will vote for Trump in significant numbers.  They're not "socialists", but Sanders was (A) addressing the issue of their economic plight and (B) not preaching the liberal social agenda in the manner Hillary does.

That might be what you believe, but I don't see that as true. There will always be people flying that flag to commemorate those who fought and died in the Civil War.

I'm not sure how you can compare the CSA with Nazi Germany. The CSA did not initiate the holocaust or kill millions of people.
