Wow, Hillary is going to win in the biggest landslide ever now!

Oh, really, can I quote you on that? You think she'll do better than George Washington?

If one looks at it from a few angles, one can see why Colin Powell is in a unique position to endorse Hillary in the way that he does.

Being a very decorated general with war experience, he is a strong voice for GOP war hawks, whose voters comprise a large section of the electorate that Trump is trying to win. That makes him a strong voice towards right-leaning voters.

Towards left-leaning voters, he is a strong voice because in being black, he is able to stand up to the bigotry of Donald Trump toward minority groups. The combination of being a decorated general and black just rips away any claim Donald Trump has of being a credible "war hawk", while highlighting Trump's bigotry towards minorities.

Condoleezza Rice also would have made a good endorsement, but not quite as strong as Powell. Number one, is that Hillary, being a woman, would benefit more from someone endorsing her who is male, appealing to the masculine side. And also, being a pure civilian, she doesn't have the "war hawk" gravitas that Colin Powell has.

A guy who endorsed Obama twice is endorsing Hillary. This will have no impact at all.

Donald Trump is so dangerous that even noted war criminals are too embarrassed to support him.

There's something sickening in Democrats cheering Iraqi invasion-era GWB's Secretary of State endorsement.

to his credit, Powell is the only one of that horrifying administration who feels sick in his stomach about it.

Should've resigned back then instead of doing that pathetic anthrax speech at the UN. Whateher he felt, he stayed on and thus shares the responsibility.

The whole "one good man in Bush administration" narrative is cute, but false.

Fair enough, I agree that Powell should not be viewed as a great endorsement to receive.

Democrat in disguise endorses the Democratic Nominee. News at 11.

(Even if it was Clinton vs. Kasich, Powell would still endorse Clinton. This endorsement means nothing.)

This.

If Hillary were the first Democrat Powell endorsed, I might think otherwise.  But Powell conspicuously endorsed Obama twice.  It wasn't news when a powerful conservative Southern Democrat endorsed Nixon, Reagan, or Bush; this is just the reverse of that.

I agree with the majority of this, but I doubt it will do much for the election.
If anything, it might help Hillary in a very tiny way.

I'm a bit suprised by this. I thought he would stay neutral.

The anti-war left doesn't exist anymore in the US. They've transformed into the new right: SJWs, regressives and warhawks.
