There have been 40 elections since 1856. Here is the percentage of times (out of 40, for some western states its under 40) each state went to the presidential nominees of the Republican and Democratic parties.

Looks like MN, RI, MA, WV, and potentially NV will go to 50/50 next year.

To tie, all of those will need 2 more cycles of voting how they usually vote. For Nevada a net 3 more times of voting Democratic.
