How many credit cards do you own? I own one through my bank and am applying for another one for major purchases that will be used rarely. So I own 1 about to own 2.

2 credit, 3 debit.  I could easily get more credit cards, but I have no need for them and too many card can be confusing.

0. I use cash or my debit card. My dad did give me a company card to pay for my gas and any emergency expenses, but I don't own it and I only use to get gas and every once in a blue moon to cover things that can only be handled online (school fees, etc).

Débit cards only for saving accounts here.

Two.

With one of them you can withdraw cash everywhere in Germany free of charge. With the other one you can withdraw cash everywhere in the EU (except Germany) free of charge.

3

Try not to use them (really only use 1 of them) very much and have been pretty good about it the last few years.  Still use it for big, costly surprises that seem to get paid off right before another one hits.

This.  As much as I want to build some credit, I think I will probably go about that through loans rather than a credit card.

I have 3, mostly to keep my credit scores in good shape (i.e. above 720). I have some issues from years ago, but I keep all of my credit cards current and never have a late payment (and my lenders have been quite liberal with credit limits). One card bumped me up by over $3000 in July. It keeps my total credit usage under 10%, which I like.
